Forum Session: Modernizing Traditional Practices in the Aquaculture Industry through Technology Implementation

Novel emerging and disruptive technologies, including genomic selection, genome editing, information/digital technology, solar energy, and novel marketing strategies with blockchain are being applied in many sectors of agriculture, but these technologies have yet to be implemented widely in the aquaculture sector. Many aquaculture farmers are still using traditional methods and old technologies.

This session will discuss on the challenges and efforts to implement technologies in the aquaculture industry.

	Prof Dr. Mhd. Ikhwanuddin is currently working as Professor at Institute of Tropical Aquaculture, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, Malaysia. He has completed his Ph.D. in Marine Biology from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, Malysia. His main area of interest related to Animal and Veterinary Sciences, Molecular Sciences, and Environmental Sciences. His main area of expertise includes Crustacean, Seed production, Scylla, Hatchery technique, Banana shrimp, Crab mating, Enzyme activity, Reproduction, Probiotic, Fisheries, Hormone, White shrimp, Black tiger shrimp, Triploidy, Larviculture, Portunid Crab, Mud spiny lobster, Ovarian maturation, Maturation diets, Natural diet, Population dynamic, Breeding technology, Portunus pelagicus, Live food, Movement pattern, Artificial production, Artificial diet, and Catch information. He has published 32 research articles in journals contributed as author/co-author.
	Mr. Faisal Shadli Arshad is a visionary leader in financial services and technology. As Managing Director and Co-Founder of Pacton Technologies, he spearheads innovative IoT, AI, and software solutions. He also holds key roles at FCA Capital and Capital Investment Bank (L) Limited. Faisal founded Tinka Education that promotes early childhood education and digital learning. Armed with an MBA from Anglia Ruskin University and a BA in Accounting and Finance from Dublin Business School, he combines academic expertise with practical leadership to drive innovation and growth across his ventures.
	Mr Shazaril Adri Mohd Shariff, the CFO of GK Aqua Group, has played a pivotal role in spearheading financial initiatives and scaling biotech business activities since 2023. A CPA with a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of New South Wales, Mr Adri has significantly contributed to GK Aqua's growth, achieving a 25% increase in turnover from 2023 to 2024. His expertise in fundraising is notable, with an ongoing exercise to secure USD 8 million from international investors. Previously, Mr Adri was the proprietor of Foodielicious Delights and held significant roles at the Malaysian Bioeconomy Development Corporation.
