NEST Workshop Ignites Young Minds and Curiosity in Science

Cyberjaya, 4th February 2025 – The room buzzed with excitement as young students gathered at the Center of Garage Malaysia (COGMY) Seminar Room for a day of discovery, creativity, and hands-on science exploration. Leave a Nest Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. successfully hosted the NEST Workshop , leaving a lasting impression on budding scientists and innovators.

From pencils conducting electricity to building their own projectors and periscopes , the workshop brought science to life in ways that amazed and inspired every child in the room.

A Superpowered Start: Flash Electric Adventure

The morning kicked off with a superhero-themed session , “Flash Electric Adventure: The Power of Pencil,” led by Ms. Farha Husna . As students held their pencils, little did they know they were holding a key to unlocking the mysteries of electricity .

Through engaging experiments, they learned about: The Secrets of Electricity and Conductivity – Understanding electricity and conductivity ✏️ The Power of Pencil – Discovering how graphite can conduct electricity in a hands-on experiment. ⚛️ The Chemistry Behind Graphite – Understanding the chemistry behind graphite molecular structure. 🎨 Crafting Their Own Pencil Lead (Graphite) Molecular Model – A creative activity using paper clay to visualize the invisible world of science.

Lighting Up Curiosity: The Science of Light

The excitement continued in the afternoon with Mr. Zaim , who guided the students through the wonders of light and optics . Their eyes lit up as they: 🔍 Explored light properties – Learning how light travels, reflect, and refracts. 🪞 Built their own periscope – Using cardboard and mirrors to see beyond obstacles, just like submarines do! 📽️ Created a DIY projector – Transforming a simple box and a magnifying glass into a working projector.

More Than Just Experiments – A Spark for the Future

As the day came to an end, the children left not only with their handmade periscopes and projectors but also with something far more valuable— a newfound sense of wonder and curiosity about the world around them . The workshop was well received with participants expressing enthusiasm for both the engaging activities and the overall experience

🚀 The NEST Workshop Series is more than just a science class; it's a launchpad for young innovators , a place where imagination meets discovery. Who knows? Among these young minds, a future scientist, engineer, or inventor may have just found their calling.

Stay tuned for more exciting workshops, where we continue to nurture young minds and turn everyday wonders into lifelong inspirations!
