Ideas and Collaboration in Action: Ignition Session makes a comeback this HIC PH 2025!

Leave a Nest Philippines is proud to announce that the pioneering Ignition Session will return during the upcoming Hyper Interdisciplinary Conference in the Philippines 2025 (HIC PH 2025) on November 8, 2025 at the Quezon City University – Main. We are inviting participants from different sectors ranging from academic researchers and faculty to high school students to young entrepreneurs from startups & SMEs to build knowledge through the Ignition Session.

Launched in the Philippines in 2024, the Ignition Session is a significant addition to the program as it provides an important opportunity for university and center researchers, faculty, startups, private industry and all other conference attendees to co-create new project ideas on socially-relevant themes through a hackathon-like format with newly formed interdisciplinary team and mindset. This session is in testament to the direction of the Hyper Interdisciplinary Conference being an innovative idea and project creation conference through intersectoral contributions & perspectives, rather than a highly-technical & field-exclusive conference and sectoral actions made in silos. Similar to last year, there will be two Ignition Session themes coming from the Ignition Session Partners: Lockheed Martin and Leave a Nest Philippines

This Ignition Session is exclusively open only to all on-site HIC PH 2025 conference participants only (presenters and all other regular attendees).

  • Conference participants have to form their own teams during the day, create & submit a brief proposal based on the theme, do a short pitch, and be recognized as the next Ignition Session Awardees & take home the monetary award of PHP 5,000 per team.

IGNITION SESSION THEME 1

LOCKHEED MARTIN
Theme: Next Gen Tech & Next Gen Leaders: Innovations to Transform Knowledge Transfer & Learning

Overview:

  • Additional Requirement: Team shall have at least 1 high school student as a contributing member.
  • This session challenges participants to become innovators of the future by designing and proposing technology-driven solutions that advance STEM education. Building on the theme “Next Gen Tech & Next Gen Leaders: Innovations to Transform Knowledge Transfer & Learning”, it empowers students, educators, researchers, and industry thinkers to reimagine how Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) are taught, learned, and experienced. Participants are encouraged to explore how artificial intelligence (AI), immersive learning platforms, data analytics, and other emerging tools make STEM education more engaging, inclusive, and accessible. The session encourages cross-disciplinary problem-solving where participants identify real challenges in STEM learning and develop conceptual ideas that have the potential to evolve into tangible solutions.
  • By merging visionary leadership with next-generation technologies, this initiative develops a new wave of changemakers who will shape a future where education is hands-on, equitable, and designed for lifelong curiosity and innovation.

IGNITION SESSION THEME 2

LEAVE A NEST PHILIPPINES
Theme: Integrating science, innovation, and culture to reinforce adaptive living

Overview:

  • In a rapidly changing world marked by climate shifts, technological disruption, and evolving social dynamics, adaptive living has become essential for communities to thrive. This theme explores how science and innovation can work together with cultural knowledge to create sustainable, inclusive, and adaptive solutions.
  • The goal is to empower communities to adapt to modern challenges while preserving their unique cultural identities. By integrating science, innovation, and culture, we aim to design solutions that are not only technologically advanced but also contextually appropriate and culturally sensitive. This recognizes that technology alone cannot drive sustainable change. True progress emerges when scientific advancements and innovations are grounded in local values, traditions, and social systems.

With these 2 Ignition session themes, Leave a Nest Philippines encourages participants to not only bring your ongoing or completed research studies but to also put your fundamental expertise and communication to test for solution and community-building. Aside from this session, the HIC Philippines 2025 program will also showcase keynote speech and session, several panel sessions on relevant topics like Philippines water infrastructure, and oral & poster research presentations to encourage and build more interdisciplinary conversations and  collaborations.
