Strengthening Regional Innovation: Leave a Nest Philippines Signs MOU with West Visayas State University for development of the Western Visayas Region

Iloilo City, Philippines – On September 11, 2025, Leave a Nest Philippines formally established a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with West Visayas State University (WVSU) to promote innovation mainly in the Western Visayas region. The signing ceremony between  West Visayas State University and Leave a Nest Philippines was represented by the President of WVSU, Dr. Joselito F. Villaruz and Dr. Yevgeny Aster T. Dulla, Managing Director of Leave a Nest Philippines respectively.

WVSU-Business Incubator Nurturing Homegrown Innovations (WVSU-BINHI) has already collaborated with Leave a Nest Philippines before. One of the highlighted initiatives is the Scholars Technopreneurship Training Program  (STTP) of the Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI), wherein four teams (Team NutriLink, Team NexusHealthcare Solutions, Team DaluBasa) have received an award from WVSU-BINHI. The award includes a year-long free incubation support which was given during the STTP Region VI Demo Day 2024 (see here). In line with this, one team that won the award also participated in this year’s Visayas TECH PLANTER 2025 which qualified as a lighting talk speaker (Nutrilink) (see here to know more about the Visayas TECH PLANTER 2025 teams).

Simultaneously, the MOU signing between the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Iloilo Chapter (PCCI-Iloilo) and WVSU was held. The serendipitous presence of PCCI-Iloilo during the signing highlights how important this collaboration is. One of the visions of  Leave a Nest Philippines’  for Western Visayas (see here for more information of Leave a Nest Philippines achievements and milestones), is to strengthen the relationship between academia and industry through our programs such as the 1st ever Visayas TECH PLANTER 2024 (see here). Connecting stakeholders interested in fostering the technologies of local innovators. Potentially giving innovators a chance to share and showcase their deep tech technology. Hence, a very timely event,  making the signing a more impactful program.

Leave a Nest Philippines will work closely with West Visayas State University with a goal of developing a deep tech startup ecosystem especially for education and forestry. Creating more opportunities for researchers in the Visayas and Iloilo through connecting both parties' networks, this collaboration will offer more opportunities to students, startups and local researchers from bringing their ideas to reality. As Leave a Nest Philippines vision is “Harmonize Science and Technology Stakeholders for the Empowerment of Filipinos”.
