Leave a Nest Singapore Celebrates 15 Years of Clock Building and Announces Leadership Transition

Singapore, 20 December 2025

Leave a Nest Singapore (LVNS SG) marked its 15th anniversary with a commemorative luncheon bringing together partners from research, industry, investment, and academia to celebrate a decade and a half of relationship-building, ecosystem development, and science bridge communication in Singapore and the region.

The anniversary event reflected on LVNS SG's journey since its establishment in 2010, highlighting key phases of foundation, localisation, storming, and team building. Central to the celebration was the concept of “Clock Building”,  a long-term, people-centred approach that has guided Leave a Nest Singapore's growth, continuity, and impact beyond individual projects or timelines.

During the event, Dr Kihoko Tokue delivered opening remarks reflecting on the organization's evolution and the importance of leadership continuity. Dr Tokue also formally announced a leadership transition, marking a significant milestone in LVNS SG's journey. As part of this transition, Dr Tokue will be appointed Head of the Leave a Nest Education Research Institute (ERI) .

Through this appointment, Leave a Nest will further strengthen its educational platforms across Southeast Asia and the broader Asia region, with a particular focus on the Science Castle initiative , which promotes research-based learning among junior and senior high school students. The Education Research Institute will continue to advance global educational research that transcends national and regional boundaries.

Effective immediately, Mr Shohei Maekawa will assume the role of Managing Director of Leave a Nest Singapore , working alongside Dr Takumi Jindo as part of the leadership team. This transition represents not an end, but a continuation, reinforcing LVNS SG's commitment to sustainable leadership, organizational learning, and long-term ecosystem building.

“Leadership transition is not a test of time, but a test of trust and continuity,” shared Dr Tokue during the event. “What matters is that the clock continues to run, powered by people who share the same values and vision.”

Under the new leadership, Leave a Nest Singapore will continue to strengthen its role as a knowledge manufacturing company and science bridge communication platform , connecting global innovation with local ecosystems. The organization reaffirmed its commitment to working with partners across borders, disciplines, and cultures to co-create meaningful, long-term impact.

The event also featured reflections on LVNS SG's expanding regional role, including its position within Southeast Asia as a global hub for knowledge exchange and collaboration, and its future direction as a convener of interdisciplinary partnerships.

A key moment of the celebration was the self-introduction session by the current LVNS SG team , where members across different functions shared their roles and backgrounds. This segment underscored the importance of people in sustaining the organization's mission, reinforcing the idea that clock building is driven by collective effort, shared values, and diverse expertise working together.

The 15th anniversary celebration concluded with closing remarks by Dr Yukihiro Maru , Co-Founder and Group CEO of Leave a Nest Co., Ltd., who reaffirmed the organization's belief in people, trust, and clock building as the foundation for enduring impact. While Dr Maru will step down from his role as a Singapore director, he will continue to serve as Group CEO and Founder of Leave a Nest .

As Leave a Nest Singapore enters its next chapter, the organization looks forward to continuing its journey with partners old and new building clocks together and shaping the future through knowledge, relationships, and shared purpose.
