Fruit Coating Research Group won at TECH PLAN DEMO DAY in the PHILIPPINES 2018

Out of 35 applications, 12 finalists have been selected to present their business projects to panel of judges from Leave a Nest, Japan Tobbaco Inc., Mitsui Chemicals Singapore R&D Centre Pte. Ltd., QBO Innovation Hub, Brainsparks, IdeaSpace Foundation Inc., Nexus Innovation Labs, De La Salle Lipa, University of the Philippines Enterprise, Nippon Steel & Sumikin Engineering Co., Ltd.

Team Fruit Coating Research Group from University of the Philippines Los Banos won the Grand Winner prize for their innovative solution on development of fruit coating for shelf life extension of fresh fruits. The winner received JPY300,000 cash prize, return airfares and accommodation for 2 team members to join TECH PLAN DEMO DAY in SINGAPORE 2018 in the final regional round. Winner from Singapore round will be invited to join meeting in Tokyo Japan in March 2019.
Two more awards were given by the judges (please refer to below for details). Leave a Nest will provide continuous support for winners and finalists to accelerate their projects.
Mr. Atsushi Shimizu, Director CEO of Challenergy Inc.
Mr. Atsushi started the presentation by saying “I'm back” His energetic presentation showed that he has been working hard all over the world presenting about the mission of Challenergy. Challenergy Inc. is the first company to harness the energy of typhoon using vertical wind turbine. He encouraged the finalists through passionate sharing of his knowledge.

The event opened with a welcoming remarks from Mr. Shohei Michael Maekawa, Manager, Global Bridge Laboratory., followed by keynote presentation by Mr. Atsushi Shimizu, Director CEO of Challenergy Inc. This was the second visit by the Challenergy and he highlighted the progress since his last visit.
