Leave a Nest is pleased to announce the first TECH PLAN DEMO DAY in VIETNAM, to be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at Saigon Innovation Hub in Ho Chi Minh City.

TECH PLANTER is a seed acceleration platform for researchers and technology startups seeking to bring science and technology into society. In 2018, Leave a Nest expanded the program across six ASEAN countries, adding Vietnam and Indonesia to Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines.

For the inaugural Vietnam program, 20 teams from four universities entered TECH PLANTER. Following document screening and interviews, nine teams were selected as finalists. One team, MET TECH, later withdrew due to unforeseen circumstances, and eight teams will take the stage on Demo Day to present their technologies, business ideas, and plans to a panel of judges from Japanese corporations, local venture capital firms, and ecosystem organizations.

Finalist Teams

NASCI — Studying traditional Vietnamese medicine and developing personal-care products.

World Elites Food Co., Ltd. — A subscription-box concept featuring healthy plant-based food.

Hoang Duong — An IoT node sensor that tracks soil moisture and humidity and sends data to the cloud.

Sanomat — Production of nano materials using a grinding process.

GaraSTEM — Science and robotics kits for STEM education.

Advanced Water Treatment Technology — A direct-contact membrane distillation process for water treatment.

Wetland Roof — An urban water-treatment concept combining constructed wetlands and green roofs.

Hoa Phong E&C Investment & Development JSC (HPEC) — Medical wastewater treatment using cold plasma technology.

MET TECH, originally selected as a finalist with a household water-treatment system, withdrew before the event due to unforeseen circumstances.

Special Keynote and Lightning Pitch

The event will also feature a special keynote speech by Mr. Hidenori Takeshita, CEO of TOY MEDICAL Co., Ltd., a recipient of the YOSHINOYA Award at the 4th AGRI TECH GRAND PRIX in Japan in 2017.

A Lightning Pitch session will also be open to TECH PLANTER in VIETNAM 2018 participants. Attendees will have an opportunity to share the vision, passion, and challenges they hope to address, creating connections with potential team members, partners, and collaborators.

Building a Deep-Tech Ecosystem from Vietnam to ASEAN

Vietnam is the third stop in the TECH PLANTER ASEAN 2018 Demo Day series. Through the program, Leave a Nest aims to discover early-stage technology teams addressing challenges unique to Southeast Asia and connect them with corporations, investors, universities, and other partners who can help accelerate social implementation.

We welcome those interested in discovering emerging technologies and startups in Vietnam and across ASEAN to join us at Saigon Innovation Hub and meet the teams taking their first steps toward regional and global expansion.
