Yev was born and raised in Iloilo City, Philippines. He graduated with a degree in BS Chemistry from the University of the Philippines – Visayas, after which he worked as an instructor at the University of the Philippines – Manila. He came to Japan in 2013 to pursue graduate studies through the HIGO Program of Kumamoto University, and acquired his Masters in Health Life Sciences in 2015 and his PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2018. He worked at a business consultancy company in Tokyo in 2019 to help bring biotechnology and medical companies from abroad into Japan. In 2020, he joined Leave a Nest Co., Ltd. and is currently under the Frontier Development Division. He is also a Balik Scientist Awardee for 2021, and is very passionate in helping accelerate science and technology in the Philippines, as he believes it will be the key to the country’s development.

Ronezza Delos Santos

Ronezza “Ezza” Delos Santos was born and raised in Baguio City, the Summer Capital of the Philippines. She graduated from the Philippine Science High School – Cordillera Administrative Region Campus (PSHS-CAR) as part of the pioneer batch. She then entered the University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD) and graduated with a degree (BS) in Chemical Engineering. After earning her professional license, she worked at Baguio Water District, a Government-Owned and Controlled Corporation that provides potable water throughout Baguio City and some parts of the Benguet Province. After taking an internship for Leave a Nest’s Tech Planter PH, she took the challenge to be one of the pioneer members of Leave a Nest’s Philippine subsidiary to help and promote science and technology for advancing the country. She is now one of the Directors of Leave a Nest Philippines while also taking her Masters in Environment and Natural Resources Management.

Kevin Anthony S. Sison, FRSA, MSc
in Data Science
Kevin’s 12-year teaching portfolio encompasses the University of the Philippines, St. Luke’s College of Medicine, De La Salle University, and Notre Dame Senior High School. Kevin is the President and Chief Executive Officer of SCTST Review Corporation, a leading review services provider for the Chemists and Chemical Technicians National Licensure Exams in the Philippines. He earned his BS Biochemistry degree (magna cum laude) from the University of the Philippines. He then studied Molecular Biology and Biotechnology in UP and pursued an MS in Chemistry. Following his passion to integrate the scientific discipline with breakthroughs in data science, he thereupon earned his MS in Data Science from the Asian Institute of Management. In July 2020, Kevin was elected as a fellow to the Royal Society of Arts.

Peter Jeffrey V. Maloles, MSc
in Marine Science (Physical Oceanography)
Jeffrey earned his bachelor’s degree in Applied Physics (Materials Science) and master’s degree in Marine Science (Physical Oceanography) from the University of the Philippines Diliman. In collaboration with sectors from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), he is a science communicator who has been involved in bringing science more accessible to the youth and engage them to pursue careers in science. He was a former Sustainability Development Goal (SDG) ambassador and has since been involved in designing sustainability-centered ecotourism efforts in different municipalities of the Philippines. He is an advocate of environmental and social awareness through science education. Jeffrey believes that training the youth to integrate a people-centered scientific approach in decision and policy making is key to development.

Dr. Maru is the founder and CEO of Leave a Nest Group. He earned a Doctorate degree at the Graduate School of Agriculture and Life Sciences, the University of Tokyo. He founded Leave a Nest Co., Ltd. in 2002, which became a leading science bridge communication company in Japan. Dr. Maru is the technical advisor for euglena Co., Ltd. which was listed in the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange in 2014. He is also an innovator who has been involved in launching more than 78 startups including Challenergy, Inc. At the same time, he is holding the role as co-founder of Real Tech Fund and science evangelist of Drone Fund. He is an expert in advising young entrepreneurs in business development and venture spirit. Not limited in Japan, he has taken initiatives expanding his business to the world.

Yuko Ueno Ph.D.

Dr. Yuko Ueno received her Ph.D in Ocean microbiology-biochemistry and joined Leave a Nest in 2013. She has experience in human resource development especially in entrepreneur education, and frontier business development with MNC. While utilizing her own research experience, she discovers and nurtures deep tech startups in the United States, United Kingdom, Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines where the Leave a Nest Group is based, and at the same time designs new businesses for Japanese companies in collaboration with the startups. She also has experience in accelerating Japanese deep tech startups enter the Southeast Asian market and Southeast Asian startups to enter the Japanese market.
Ronrick Sugatan Arayata
BS in Physical Therapy
Ronrick “Onic” Arayata is a citizen of the Republic of the Philippines living in the city of Tanza, province of Cavite. He graduated BS Physical Therapy at the University of the Philippines Manila in 2017 and passed the board exam in 2018, earning his license to work. Since then, he has worked in Cavite Diagnostic Stroke Care Center for three years treating mainly patients with stroke but was also able to handle various musculoskeletal and neurologic cases. He joined Leave a Nest as an intern in April 2021 to mentor TECH PLANTER finalists and decided to join the company right after.
Bryan Angelo Foronda
Bachelor of Bioresource Science
Bryan Angelo Foronda is from the south of Philippines’ Luzon Island, specifically from Pili, Camarines Sur. He attended Philippine Science High School – Bicol Region Campus (PSHS-BRC) for his secondary studies. From that time, he pursued tertiary education in science as a BS Geology student at the University of the Philippines-Diliman in 2015. However, in 2017, he got accepted to study in Japan under a full Japanese Government MEXT Scholarship. Through which, he graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Bioresource Science from University of Tsukuba in 2021 with involvements with several student-led international exchange and environment-related initiatives. Post-graduation, he did an internship for Leave A Nest Philippines’ Hyper Interdisciplinary Conference 2021 and eventually applied to become a full-time employee and advocate for Leave A Nest’s mission and vision to improve science and technology ecosystem in every place possible.
Alexander GALI
BS in Computer Science
Alexander Gali from the Republic of the Philippines – Luzon, Province of Rizal. Graduated from Technological Institute of the Philippines, Quezon City. From there he pursued and earned his Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science. Before graduating, he took two (2) internship programs, first as a Project Management Intern and second as a Research Assistant related to Blockchain Technology.From that point on, he started getting more and more passionate about learning new things about science and technology. Not long after that, he found Leave a Nest Philippines and began working there as a Science Bridge Communicator. He believes that with the help of Leave a Nest, Science and Technology will raise efficiency, enhance the quality of life, and address significant social issues.
Hannah Mae Balisi
Bachelor of Science Major in Psychology
Hannah Mae Balisi was born and raised in Rizal, Philippines. In 2022, she earned a thesis award and graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Science Major in Psychology from St. Paul University Quezon City. During her collegiate years, she was active in participating in the annual event of the Psychological Association of the Philippines-Junior Affiliates. Hannah became passionate in Psychology at a young age out of her curiosity in the complexity of the human mind. She is very ardent to change the preconceived notions about Psychology in the Philippines and gear the discipline towards a scientific-based approach. In March of 2023, she joined Leave a Nest Philippines to help advocate the use of science and technology to solve societal problems and to help advance the understanding of science and technology in the Philippines.

Edilyn Grace Odero also known as “Eds” graduated in 2022 with a degree on Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. She displays a great passion for research and development towards innovation to help alleviate and solve societal concerns as well as to promote science and technology. Following her passion to integrate the scientific discipline with breakthroughs in agriculture, she joined Leave a Nest Philippines as a Science Bridge Communicator in March 2023 and is currently under Frontier Development.

Bill earned his Bachelor's degree in Computer Science at the Technological Institute of the Philippines Quezon City. Leadership and Science are his passions. He had been part of different organizations and was a volunteer within his community. As a science enthusiast, his thesis focused on the Securing of Seed Phrases through a different securement methods such as Steganography, Encryption, and Hashing. He joined Leave a Nest Philippines on September 2023 with the goal of being a Science Bridge Communicator between to the academe, private and public institutions, and the government.

Jondi earned his Bachelor's degree in Information Technology Entrepreneurship from Ateneo de Manila University and immersed himself in the startup scenes of the Philippines and Singapore due to his passion for innovation and emerging technologies. He has gained diverse experience working with startups at various stages, spanning sectors like legaltech and e-commerce, which provided him with valuable insights into the strengths and weaknesses of the Philippine startup industry. In October 2023, he joined Leave a Nest Philippines as a Science Bridge Communicator, with a clear goal of enhancing the startup ecosystem in the Philippines by connecting private institutions with startups that can address pressing societal issues.

Jewel finished her Bachelor's Degree in Communication Research at Polytechnic University of the Philippines in 2023. With her training in research through her years in College, she gained interest in various fields and societal issues such as media, technology, education and the minority groups. Her background is mostly in marketing and media studies but she has been exposed to different information and technology issues through her organizations. She joined Leave a Nest as she has been passionate in bridging the gap among those in need through science and technology.

Princess “Cess” Calinog was born in San Pedro City Laguna and raised in Quezon City with a degree of Bachelor of Science major in Psychology from Far Eastern University. A goal-driven individual who has administrative assistant experience and has a great satisfaction in providing support and ensure smooth operation within the company. Her background is mostly administrative assistant in human resources the past years she developed written and verbal communication skills. She joined Leave a Nest Philippines January 2024, she was really impressed with their work in advancing science and technology.
Alecks Megxel Abordo
Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry
Alecks Megxel Abordo, a graduate of BS Biochemistry from UST Manila, is currently pursuing a master's degree in Tropical Medicine at UERMMMCI. Hailing from Albay, he harbors a deep-seated passion for molecular biology and microbiology. Previously, as a Science Research Specialist at TMC CTRI, Alecks played a pivotal role in a groundbreaking project funded by DOST NRCP. This project, conducted in collaboration with the University of San Agustin Iloilo, focused on exploring the potential of marine actinomycete extracts in combination with beta-lactam antibiotics to combat clinically isolated beta-lactam resistant gram-negative pathogens. In February 2024, Alecks joined Leave a Nest Philippines as a Science Bridge Communicator, drawn by the institution's global impact on science and technology advancement and its potential for facilitating collaborations across networks.

Mai-mai was born and raised in General Santos City, Mindanao and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Communication at Miriam College, Quezon City in 2023. Growing up, she saw the inequalities and lack of opportunities in the regional areas particularly in education, information access, media, and technology. She joined Leave a Nest Philippines as a Science Bridge Communicator. With her communication background and experience, she aims to provide support to connect the metropolitan and regional areas in the Philippines for collaborations, creating connections to generate and expand new knowledge.
Edriel Tan Lee
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering/ Diploma in Biology
Edriel holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and a graduate Diploma in Biology from the University of the Philippines Diliman. Despite being raised in Manila's urban landscape, he developed a profound appreciation for nature, fostering a keen curiosity for the insects thriving within the city's green spaces. This fascination became a driving force, leading him to delve deeper into their world and to expand his knowledge of their diversity and behaviors. During his diploma studies, Edriel's passion for entomology intersected with agriculture as he became a research officer at Nama Urban Farm Inc., recognizing the pivotal role of insects in sustainable farming. In April 2024, he embarked on a new chapter as a Science Bridge Communicator at Leave a Nest, driven by a steadfast belief in the role’s capacity to address the urgent biodiversity crisis.

Neil Clarence C. Diaz, born and raised in Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat, completed his senior high school at Mindanao State University – General Santos City and earned his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, specializing in Artificial Intelligence, from West Visayas State University in Iloilo City. Passionate about science, innovation, and technology, he is committed to creating a positive impact on society. During his time in college, Neil co-founded and served as the pioneer CEO/President of SPARK Hub, a student organization that empowers students to transform their ideas into innovative solutions for societal benefit. He is also dedicated to breaking the stigma surrounding Artificial Intelligence as he develops AI-driven solutions that address community challenges. Now, as a member of Leave a Nest, Neil continues to extend his advocacy for science and technology from the university to the global stage.

Vincent Ramos was born in Muntinlupa and raised in Antipolo City. He graduated from the Philippine Air Transport and Training Services (PATTS) College of Aeronautics in Parañaque City. Vincent interned and subsequently worked with AirAsia, where he gained valuable insights into the current challenges facing the aviation industry. Driven by a passion for aviation, he aspires to contribute to meaningful improvements within the sector.
