The First “Sustainable Food Camp” to Connect Asian Food Tech Companies with Japanese Companies without Borders

On February 16 – 17th, Creating New Food Standards under the theme “2050, where our Food goes”

Sustainable Food Asia will hold the Sustainable Food Camp 2023 on February 16 – 17 th “RekaScape” in Cyberjaya, Malaysia, a kick-off event where Southeast Asian food tech companies and Japanese companies will come together as one team to solve global issues related to food through business. The main theme of SFC2023 is “2050, where our Food goes.”

Sustainable Food Asia Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Satoshi Umino; hereinafter referred to as “SFA”), which is engaged in research and development of sustainable foods in cooperation with Southeast Asian companies, will hold an event “Sustainable Food Camp 2023 (hereinafter referred to as “SFC2023″)”. at a start-up incubation facility located in Cyberjaya, Malaysia, on February 16 – 17th, 2023. More than 20 Southeast Asian companies and Japanese companies such as Ajinomoto Co., Inc., MUFG Bank, Euglena Co. Ltd., and ROHTO Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. have already decided to participate.

The main theme is “2050, where our Food goes”. The program will include panel discussions, round tables with several key themes related to food, and tasting sessions of food ingredients and dishes researched and developed by participating companies. The final event will be a business concept discussion and pitch to realize the future that the participants are aiming for.

Starting with the inaugural SFC2023, SFA aims to create new co-creation and collaboration that transcends corporate boundaries, enabling participants to take the first step toward solving problems.

[Purpose of the Event] To Create a New Standard for Food that is Kind to the Earth and Our Bodies

According to a United Nations summary, the world's population is expected to grow to nearly 10 billion in 2050, and it is a global challenge that the sustainable supply of food for that many people to live healthy lives. Currently, many food tech startups are being created in Singapore, Malaysia, India, and other Asian areas to support the sustainable food industry.

SFA has decided to hold the SFC with the aim of building a foundation for a sustainable food industry that will lead to the next generation by combining the new materials created by these startups with the technologies possessed by Japanese companies. By leveraging the strengths of major companies and startups, and by sharing the visions and perspectives of all involved, we aim to create a venue for new relationships that will lead to the start of business co-creation and joint development.

SFA plans to hold SFCs in ASEAN countries on a regular basis, with the aim of creating a movement in which Southeast Asia and Japan can work as one team to solve food issues in Asia, and eventually the world.
