Fariz Syafiq joined the Frontier Development Department at Leave a Nest Malaysia in February 2025. He holds a Master's in Oceanography from Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) and a Bachelor's in Marine Technology from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Perlis. His primary research focus is on climate change and its impacts on oceans and coastal regions, emphasizing the importance of environmental awareness and sustainability for future generations. Beyond his marine expertise, Fariz has developed substantial experience in data science, banking (personal financing), and compliance (KYC), emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration and the importance of networking and ecosystem development. Originally from Sarawak, Fariz's journey across Malaysia has enhanced his appreciation for cultural diversity and different lifestyles, fueling his passion for connecting diverse groups—such as startups, universities, and companies—to foster innovation and collaboration aligned with Leave a Nest’s mission: "Advancing Science and Technology for Global Happiness."
