NEST Leadership Camp: Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders

Cyberjaya – Leave a Nest Malaysia (LVNS-MY), is dedicated to nurturing talent and fostering growth, and is delighted to announce the resounding success of the NEST Leadership Camp. This unique program imparts volunteerism to university and college students, equipping them with essential soft skills, particularly in leadership and communication.

The Human Development Division serves as an unwavering platform committed to shaping well-rounded individuals, arming them with the skills, knowledge, and mindset necessary for success in both personal and professional pursuits. The overarching mission of this division is to inspire a lifelong passion for learning, cultivate leadership qualities, and foster a community of empowered change-makers poised to make a positive impact on the world.

Recognizing the immense value of leveraging their diverse flagship programs to empower the next generation of talent, LVNS-MY initiated the unique training program known as the “NEST Leadership Camp.” This program is thoughtfully designed to bridge the gap between scientific knowledge and effective communication, utilizing the organization's very own Science Bridge Communication (SBC) practice. The synergy between these flagship programs and the NEST Leadership Camp serves as the cornerstone of their efforts to nurture future leaders in science and the broader community.

The NEST Leadership Camp is divided into two phases:

Science Bridge Communication (SBC) Training – An interactive workshop on how to perform effective communication, conducted on the 9th of October 2023, took place online. Participants were exposed to essential skills required for bridging the gap between scientific knowledge and effective communication.

Communication Stewardship – An intensive hands-on practice at Science Castle Asia (SCA) 2023. Participants had the opportunity to apply the SBC training onsite at real events. This practical phase occurred from the 20th to the 22nd of October 2023 at RekaScape, Cyberjaya.

Leave a Nest Malaysia extends its heartfelt gratitude to the students of Bachelor of Biomedical Science, University College MAIWP International (UCMI), Makerlab UiTM, and the Department of Biomedical Science, Universiti Malaya. They formed the inaugural cohort of the NEST Leadership Camp, and their active participation and enthusiasm were instrumental in the resounding success of this program.

The NEST Leadership Camp not only equips 22 participants with essential leadership and communication skills but also instills in them a sense of responsibility and the importance of volunteering. It empowers these future leaders to be effective communicators, capable of translating complex scientific knowledge into ideas that can be understood and embraced by a broader audience. They were entrusted with the responsibility to inspire and motivate students to pursue STEM paths for their higher education and career choices.

LVNS-MY is proud of the successful culmination of the NEST Leadership Camp and the impact it has had on the participating students. It remains committed to its mission of nurturing talents, fostering growth, and empowering individuals to realize their full potential.
