Leave a Nest Singapore Pte. Ltd proudly announces a panel session between UntroD, VFlow, MOL+ and SEEDs Capital in the Global Knowledge Hub Forum held at NTU Alumni House on August 27th 9:30-16:00. 

In this special session, we will welcome the chairman of UntroD, Mr. Nagata. Mr. Nagata has been working as CEO of euglena until 2024. euglena is one of the most famous Japanese Biotech Unicron that came out from the University. Mr. Nagata will share about UntroD and their goals in the SEA region. 

In addition to this, there will be a panel discussion between one of the portfolio startups of UntroD “VFlow Tech”, a vanadium redox flow battery company will join along with multinational companies base CVC, MOL Plus and Singapore Government based investment arm SEEDS Capital. During the panel session, the audience will be able to hear exciting discussion on how cross-border investments and collaboration between startups and multinational companies can bring in new business development.

Special Presentation

Mr. Akihiko Nagata
Chairman, UntroD

Akihiko has been serving as Director of Euglena Co., Ltd., since the pre-IPO phase and overseeing business strategy, M&A, fundraising, capital alliances, public relations & IR, and the operations department. Since Akihiko became CEO of the company in 2021, he has spearheaded several change management initiatives such as shifting the healthcare business on products extending healthy life expectancy and incorporating teenagers into management decisions, while leading the bio-fuel development business. Drawing on his finance experience at euglena, Akihiko founded Real Tech Fund with the aim of improving the investment environment for deep-tech startups in Japan, and continues to act as Chairman of the fund. Akihiko graduated from Keio University Faculty of Business and Commerce.

Dr Avishek Kumar
CEO, Co-Founder, VFlowTech

Dr Kumar is the co-founder and CEO of VFlowTech, an NTU spin-off focusing on flow battery technology. It is the only flow battery manufacturing company in Southeast Asia. As CEO, he helped raise over US$15 million in funding from global investors, led the company in exporting batteries to Australia and Japan, and grew the company from two employees in 2018 to over 60 today.

Mr. Alvin Seng
Growth Manager, MOL PLUS

Alvin Seng is Growth Manager at MOL PLUS, the Corporate Venture Capital (CVC) arm of Mitsui O.S.K Lines with over two decades of experience in the maritime industry. He identifies and fosters innovative technologies and startups that promote sustainability and align with sustainable development goals.

Mr. Derek Neo
Deputy General Manager, SEEDS Capital

Derek is the Deputy General Manager of SEEDS Capital, the venture investment arm of Enterprise Singapore. He has over 10 years of experience in venture capital, consulting, market research and risk advisory. Alongside its VC partners, SEEDS Capital invests in innovative and globally scalable high growth Singapore-based startups across Life Sciences & Healthcare, Advanced Manufacturing, Sustainability and Agrifood domains.

Mr Henry Tao
Principal, UntroD Capital Asia

Henry is part of the investment team of UntroD Global Fund, where he covers deep tech innovations that can create a positive climate impact. Previously, Henry was an investor and operator in the sector of Agri-Food tech. Henry graduated from Harvard Business School with MBA degree.
