🦐 About the Workshop
The Leave a Nest Singapore team are excited to announce that they have conducted a science workshop for the students of Waseda Shibuya Senior High School with the theme: Future of Alternative Proteins. This workshop aimed to introduce students to the world of alternative proteins.
🔍 Key Experiment Highlights
Throughout the event, students explored:
- How to form and test hypotheses through scientific investigation.
- Learn about the science behind how protein reacts to stress in terms of protein denaturing as well as coagulation factors.
- Hands-on experiments: Students explored using different ingredients to find out that even alternative protein can go through the denaturing and coagulation process.
🎓 Sharing The Take Home Message
This engaging session encouraged students to explore the simple yet powerful message of “Stress Creates Growth”. The Teaching Manager emphasised on how traditional farming methods are contributing to global warming and that finding alternative protein sources can go a long way in preserving the environment.
🌱 The Bigger Picture
This workshop was concluded by connecting students to the fascinating world of Ibiden Bussan’s new alternative protein, Shrimpea, a sustainable alternative to traditional seafood. Through this exploration, students gained a deeper appreciation for how biotechnology can shape the future of food.
