The Science Castle Grant 2025: Empowering More Young Innovators Across Malaysia

Cyberjaya, Malaysia [4 February 2025] — The Science Castle Grant 2025, proudly supported by Ajinomoto (Malaysia) Berhad, is back with an even bigger vision! This year, the program expands to include 10 secondary schools, doubling the opportunities for young researchers to embark on groundbreaking projects.

With a commitment to fostering innovation and scientific curiosity, the Science Castle Grant 2025 Ajinomoto (Malaysia) Berhad is expanding its reach by offering research grants worth RM 2,000 to each of the 10 selected teams. This year marks a significant growth from the previous edition, which supported only five schools, doubling the opportunity for young researchers to embark on groundbreaking projects.

Building on the success of previous years, the Science Castle Grant has continued to inspire young minds across Malaysia. Last year, five schools were awarded grants, allowing students to pursue innovative research projects with the guidance of mentors from Leave a Nest Malaysia and Ajinomoto (Malaysia) Berhad. All grant awardees presented their final research results at Science Castle Asia 2024, held at MMU. Last year's winning team from the Indonesian School of Kuala Lumpur showcased an impressive project titled “Utilization of Rastrelliger sp. and Durio Zibethinus Seeds to Create Nutritious and Delicious Lekor Biduan.

This year, we strongly encourage schools from all regions of Malaysia, particularly those in Sabah, Sarawak, and rural areas, to participate in this program. With dedicated spots available for schools from these regions, we aim to foster diverse perspectives in scientific research and provide students with unique opportunities to address region-specific challenges. This approach not only enriches the overall quality of research but also empowers local communities through science and innovation.

The Science Castle Grant 2025 Ajinomoto (Malaysia) Berhad kicks off with applications open from January to March. After the selection process, the program officially begins in May with a kickoff and grant presentation ceremony. Over five months, participants will work on their research projects, guided by mentors through online and in-person sessions. Their hard work will be showcased at Science Castle Asia 2025, where they’ll present their findings on an international stage.

The highlight of this year’s grant will be the recognition of the best research project, which will represent Malaysia at the prestigious Science Castle World (Tokyo) in December 2025, offering students a global platform to showcase their work.
