Global Algae Summit 2025 – Featured Panel Announcement

As the global demand for sustainable food and feed sources grows, Global Algae Summit 2025 is set to shine a spotlight on algae as a game-changing solution. Taking place on 27 August 2025 at Universiti Putra Malaysia, this year’s panel session titled “Harnessing Algae and Microalgae for Sustainable Food and Feed Solutions” will feature three distinguished women leading innovations in algal science and entrepreneurship.
Among the panelists is Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Wong Chiew Yen from IMU University, a pioneer in polar microalgae research whose work bridges tropical and Antarctic environments. Her studies focus on bioremediation and the broader biotechnological potential of algae to support environmental resilience.
Joining her is Dr. Nurarina Ayuni from Euglena Malaysia, an industrial researcher advancing sustainable microalgae cultivation systems. Her work transforms nutrient-rich waste into biofuel and feed—positioning algae as a low-footprint, high-value resource in industrial sustainability.
Rounding out the panel is Huỳnh Trần Anh Kim, CEO of Vietnam-based SeaVita. A rising voice in ASEAN’s algae innovation space, Kim is leading seaweed-based advancements in food, feed, and carbon accountability. Her company works directly with local farmers while testing novel feed formulations and building regional supply chains rooted in seaweed economics.
Together, these panelists will explore how algae and microalgae can power the next generation of food and feed innovations, while supporting circular economies, climate action, and community resilience across Southeast Asia.
The session is part of a full-day summit hosted by Leave a Nest Malaysia and Co-organised with Universiti Putra Malaysia, bringing together scientists, entrepreneurs, and changemakers passionate about building sustainable futures through science and technology.
This is more than a discussion—it is a glimpse into the algae-powered future. Don’t miss it.
