Great Teachers Summit (GTS) 2026: Reigniting STEM Curiosity for a Future-Ready Malaysia

The Great Teacher Summit (GTS) 2026, the annual flagship initiative by Leave a Nest Malaysia, achieved a significant milestone by hosting its first Borneo edition at UiTM Kota Samarahan on 16 April 2026. This year’s summit successfully gathered 180 participants, comprising a dynamic mix of pre service and in service teachers dedicated to advancing STEM education.
Since its inception in 2018, GTS has served as a vibrant international platform, connecting over 500 educators and researchers across Asia. Moving beyond Peninsular Malaysia for the first time, GTS 2026 embraced the theme “Empowering Educators to Reignite STEM Curiosity for a Future Ready Malaysia”. This transition to Sarawak reflects a commitment to decentralizing innovation and fostering regional talent to meet the country's evolving technological needs.

The summit program was meticulously designed to align with this theme, providing educators with the tools and mindsets necessary to spark long term interest in science and technology. Participants engaged in a comprehensive experience featuring inspiring keynote speeches, thought provoking panel discussions, and hands on workshops. These sessions were specifically curated to bridge the gap between classroom theory and industry requirements, ensuring that participants are better equipped to inspire the next generation of Malaysian innovators.
More than a conventional conference, GTS 2026 functioned as a collaborative hub where shared visions were translated into impactful action. The event facilitated purposeful networking, allowing aspiring and veteran teachers to exchange pedagogical wisdom and innovative strategies to strengthen the national STEM pipeline.
