The Sustainable Aquaculture Summit 2026 (SAS 2026), which will be held on 4th June 2026, is proud to announce an exciting line-up of speakers from Malaysia and Japan who will share cutting-edge innovations, sustainability initiatives, and industry insights in support of the summit theme:

“Regenerating the Blue Economy: Nature-Positive, Blue Carbon, and the Future of Aquaculture”

Organised by Leave a Nest Malaysia in collaboration with the Biotechnology Research Institute, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), SAS 2026 will take place at the Biotechnology Research Institute, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Kota Kinabalu.

The summit brings together researchers, startups, corporations, NGOs, government agencies, and industry leaders to explore innovative solutions and collaborative opportunities towards building a more sustainable and resilient future for aquaculture.

Featured Speakers

1. Dr. Pachoensuk Theeranukul , Director, Innoqua Asia 
Presentation Title: “Innoqua’s Biosphere Transfer Technology (Replicating Ocean Environment in a Tank) & Its Role in Regenerative Aquaculture”

Dr. Pachoensuk Theeranukul from Innoqua Asia will introduce the company’s advanced Biosphere Transfer Technology, an innovative system designed to replicate natural ocean environments within controlled tank systems. His presentation will highlight how regenerative aquaculture technologies can improve aquatic health, increase production efficiency, and support environmentally responsible aquaculture practices.

2. Mr. Yosuke Kurihara, Director & CEO, Co-Founder, ARK Inc. (Japan)
Presentation Title: “Advanced Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS) that Enable Efficient, Controlled and Scalable Fish Production Through Optimized Water Management and Biosecurity”

Representing Japan-based ARK Inc., Mr. Yosuke Kurihara will share the company’s expertise in Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS), focusing on efficient fish production through advanced water management and biosecurity systems. His session will explore scalable aquaculture technologies that can contribute to sustainable food production and industry resilience.

3. Mr. Chor Wei Kang, Aquaculture Team Lead, WWF-Malaysia
Presentation Title: “Sharing Challenges & Strategies by WWF-Malaysia on Achieving Nature-Positive Aquaculture”

WWF-Malaysia’s Aquaculture Team Lead, Mr. Chor Wei Kang, will present WWF-Malaysia’s initiatives in promoting responsible and nature-positive aquaculture practices. His sharing session will discuss key challenges faced by the aquaculture sector, strategic approaches toward sustainability, and the importance of balancing industry growth with marine ecosystem conservation.

4. Mr. Syazwan Mokhtar, CEO, Nuplas Solutions 
Presentation Title: “Zero Waste Innovation: The NUNET – A Reliable Source of Certified Recycled Polymer Feedstock”

Mr. Syazwan Mokhtar, CEO of Nuplas Solutions, will introduce the company’s innovative circular economy initiative through NUNET, a certified recycled polymer feedstock solution. His presentation will highlight how waste recovery and sustainable material innovation can contribute to reducing environmental impact and promoting zero-waste solutions across industries.

5. Associate Professor Dr. Annita Yong Seok Kian, Head of Rakan Akuakultur, Institute for Borneo Marine Research (IMB), Universiti Malaysia Sabah
Presentation Title: “Rakan Akuakultur: Empowering the Aquaculture Community”

Associate Professor Dr. Annita Yong Seok Kian from Universiti Malaysia Sabah will share the role of Rakan Akuakultur in strengthening community engagement and empowering local aquaculture stakeholders. Her presentation will focus on collaborative approaches, knowledge sharing, and capacity-building initiatives aimed at supporting sustainable aquaculture development in Sabah.
