Leave a Nest Singapore successfully conducted a fully physical Hyper Interdisciplinary Conference after 2019.

Leave a Nest Singapore successfully conducted our 5th Hyper Interdisciplinary Conference in Singapore (HIC SG) on the 25th February 2023 at the Meeting Point, 73B Ayer Rajah Crescent, Singapore. This conference has attracted  more than 120 participants.  They come from various organisations including government agencies, local and international corporations, researchers from local and overseas universities, local startups, international startups and the public from Singapore. This year HIC SG 2023, the main partner was Mitsui Chemicals and the session partners were Nagoya University and RTHD Singapore. The general theme for this conference is: Hub to Hub Connection: Singapore Taking its First Leap Towards True Community.

The conference  started off with RESEARCH SPLASH with a total of 17 RESEARCH SPLASH speakers from various universities and institutions delivering their research and cutting edge technologies to their disciplines. Following the RESEARCH SPLASH session, there were 25 poster presenters presenting their innovative technologies to the audience. The poster session makes the session more engaging and really creates a strong network between the participants. After end of the poster session, during the lunch break, tonari tour was organised. More than 30 participants participated and wondered about the seamless and realistic communication.

After the lunch break, 4 interesting interactive  panel sessions  were conducted. The first session, the panellists were discussing how Singapore can transform from a centralised Hub to a network of hubs to complement different players to build stronger Hubs here in Singapore. In the second session, the panellists were discussing whether humans can create a real alternative to reality or not which is in line with the tonari system  which provides real time meetings. For the third session,  6 Japanese startups pitched their technologies  and got comments from the Singapore government agencies. Finally in the fourth session, more interestingly Mitsui Chemicals R&D Centre came up with an in-house developed new product which has unique properties and discussed with panellists the various ways the product will help the society and how to reach the community.

Finally, among the 25 posters, best poster awards for People’s choice Awards and Leave a Nest Awards were selected and presented. The event come to an end after closing remarks from Dr. Kihoko Tokue, Managing Director, Leave a Nest Singapore Pte., Ltd.
