Establishment of Leave a Nest Vietnam Co., Ltd., the Fourth subsidiary in Southeast Asia
Leave a Nest Co., Ltd. (HQ: Shinjuku, Tokyo; Representative Director and CSO: Dr. Shuichiro Takahashi) established its wholly owned subsidiary, Leave a Nest Vietnam Co., Ltd. in Ho Chi Minh City, The Socialist Republic of Vietnam, on August 4, 2026.
Leave a Nest Vietnam is the fourth subsidiary of Leave a Nest Group in Southeast Asia, following Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines.
Upon establishment, Dr. Takumi Jindo of Leave a Nest Co., Ltd. was appointed Managing Director. In addition, Leave a Nest Vietnam will welcome a local director from GaraSTEM Educational Technology Jsc., a finalist of TECH PLANTER in VIETNAM 2018 with whom Leave a Nest has built a close relationship through investment and joint business development. By operating the company together with local partners whom Leave a Nest has discovered, supported, and collaborated with over the years, Leave a Nest Vietnam will accelerate the creation of businesses firmly rooted in the local ecosystem.

Background to the Establishment of Leave a Nest Vietnam
Leave a Nest began its activities in Vietnam in 2016 through a science workshop for children in Da Nang. In 2018, it launched TECH PLANTER Vietnam, a platform for discovering and nurturing deep-tech startups. This was followed in 2023 by the launch of Hyper Interdisciplinary Conference in Vietnam, designed to promote the fusion of knowledge across disciplines.
Through a decade of activities, Leave a Nest has built relationships with universities, researchers, startups, corporations, and government organizations across Vietnam.
The establishment of the local subsidiary is intended to transform these networks and activities from individual projects into a continuous, locally rooted platform. Leave a Nest Vietnam will recruit and develop talent locally, identify research themes and technology seeds arising from local issues, and build a structure that enables faster decision-making and implementation toward commercialization within Vietnam.
Accelerating Business Co-creation with Vietnamese Startups
The relationships that the Leave a Nest Group has cultivated in Vietnam have already developed into concrete investments and joint business initiatives.
In 2023, Leave a Nest Capital invested in GaraSTEM Educational Technology Jsc., an EdTech startup and finalist of TECH PLANTER in VIETNAM 2018. Since then, the two organizations have developed joint projects in both Japan and Vietnam.
In 2024, 144 Ventures invested in Shoes Agtech Co., Ltd., a finalist of TECH PLANTER Vietnam 2023, and has supported the implementation of its labor-saving technologies for pesticide and nutrient application in agriculture.
Alternō Pte. Ltd., also a finalist of TECH PLANTER Vietnam 2023, received investment from 144 Ventures and UntroD. With support from the Leave a Nest Group, Alternō has developed manufacturing collaborations with Japanese companies and established a Japanese subsidiary in 2025.
From its establishment, Leave a Nest Vietnam will work closely with GaraSTEM, Shoes Agtech, Alternō, and other Vietnamese startups with whom the Group has developed co-creation relationships, promoting education development, human resource development, research and development, and startup development.
Bridging Vietnam with Regional Japanese Companies and Deep-tech Startups
With a population of approximately 100 million, a relatively young demographic, and sustained economic growth, Vietnam is seeing new challenges and business opportunities emerge across a wide range of sectors, including manufacturing, agriculture, energy, education, and healthcare.
Vietnam also consists of diverse regional economies, including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and the Mekong Delta, each with its own industrial structure and characteristics. A large number of Japanese companies have established operations in the country, and direct flights connect Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with multiple airports across Japan, making Vietnam an accessible market for regional Japanese companies and deep-tech startups.
Furthermore, Vietnam’s strong economic ties with the European Union and its air connectivity with major European cities are increasing its importance as a bridge between Southeast Asia and Europe.
Leave a Nest Vietnam will be more than simply a base for supporting Japanese companies entering the Vietnamese market.
Rather than pursuing a one-way model in which Japanese technologies and products are brought into Vietnam, the company will identify issues and knowledge from the ground in Vietnam, co-create technologies and businesses together with local researchers and entrepreneurs, and expand the resulting solutions into Japan, Southeast Asia, and eventually Europe.
Through this approach, Leave a Nest Vietnam will combine the technologies and manufacturing capabilities of Japanese companies with Vietnam’s young talent, research seeds, growing market, and societal challenges to foster the creation of new industries that contribute to mutual growth.
Future Prospects
Leave a Nest Vietnam will promote cross-border Knowledge Manufacturing under the following mission:

The greatest significance of establishing a local subsidiary lies in positioning Vietnam not merely as a “growth market” or a “destination for overseas expansion,” but as a place where new knowledge and technologies capable of addressing global challenges can emerge.
Leave a Nest Vietnam will further strengthen Vietnam’s ecosystem for education, research, and entrepreneurship while connecting it with the networks that the Leave a Nest Group has built across Japan and Southeast Asia. Through these efforts, the company will establish a Knowledge Manufacturing platform connecting Vietnam with regional Japan, Southeast Asia, and Europe.

<About the Managing Director of Leave a Nest Vietnam>
Leave a Nest Vietnam Co., Ltd.
Managing Director: Dr. Takumi Jindo, Ph.D. in Engineering
Born in Nishio City, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. Dr. Jindo earned his Ph.D. in Engineering from Yokohama National University, specializing in organic dye chemistry. During his doctoral studies, he conducted research at KU Leuven in Belgium.
Following research and educational positions at universities, he joined Leave a Nest Co., Ltd. in 2019. Since then, he has led numerous projects supporting the expansion and implementation of technologies from Japanese regional companies, startups, small and medium-sized enterprises, mid-sized companies, and large corporations into Southeast Asia. His work has included initiatives such as the Ota City Prototyping Project for Creating Collaboration between Startups and Manufacturing Companies in Tokyo and the Hiroshima Prefecture Project for Creating Projects through Collaboration with Overseas Startups.
Since 2023, he has concurrently served as a Visiting Associate Professor at the Deep Tech Serial Innovation Center, Nagoya University, and since 2025 as a Director of Leave a Nest Singapore Pte. Ltd.
As a Science Bridge Leader pursuing the theme of “Creating cross-border structures which can solve issues using science and technology”, Dr. Jindo is working to establish new models for the cross-border application of science and technology.
