Re-branding of the LNest Grant to “L GRANT”: Launched Global Challenge Award in Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines
Since 2009, Leave a Nest has been promoting the “LNest Grant”, a private research grant program for young researchers who are passionate about their own research and are pursuing original one. To date, the program has awarded a total of more than 100 million Japanese Yen (about 1 million USD) as research grants to a total of 415 young researchers in cooperation with 91 companies in Japan.
On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of our establishment on June 14, 2022, we have updated the concept of the “LNest Grant” to a new global brand “L GRANT” to provide various grants and opportunities of training programs for researchers around the world.

To commemorate the establishment of “L GRANT”, the “Global Challenge Award” was launched to provide grants to researchers residing in four countries (Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines) for research that has the potential to help solve global issues. We plan to provide grants to 20 researchers, five from each country, in various fields such as healthcare, environment, agriculture/food, natural sciences, social sciences, education, and etc.
<Grant Themes for Each Country>
- Japan: Research that has the potential to solve global issues
- Singapore: Research that has the potential to solve global or ASEAN issues
- Malaysia: Research that has the potential to solve global issues or local issues in Malaysia
- Philippines: Research that has the potential to solve global issues or local issues in the Philippines
