The Global Entrepreneurship Community Summit 2017 was held on 12 & 13 December 2017. The two-day summit comprises of GEC lab, talk sessions, exhibition, keynote and panel discussion empowered many delegates from around the world to uncover new possibilities and develop revolutionary ideas to boosting the innovation and growth of the economy in the future.
Dr. Shuichiro Takahashi, representative director COO of Leave a Nest Co., Ltd and Mr. Masanobu Kowaka, Global account manager of Hamano product were delegates from Japan as panelists in one of the GEC lab (hardware & IOT). Panelists from Malaysia are Prof. Ir. Dr. Ahmad Fadzil Mohamad Hani, CEO SIRIM, Prof. Dr. Rofina Yasmin Othman, USTART founder and facilitated by Ms. Low Ngai Yuen, Executive Director, GEM.

This session discussing ‘Who needs a real prototype?’. As we know, Universities and research institution produce a lot of innovation that has potential in many applications but mostly in the stage of laboratory prototypes but with a poor branding. This factors avert the commercialization and demand the needs to create partnership locally and as well as globally to build tech prototyping ecosystems.
Mr. Masanobu from our partner company Hamano Products Co., Ltd talks about their core competence from upstream of designing and engineering to downstream of prototyping and testing, mass processing, assembling and materialize streamlined. They also support startup through Garage Sumida (incubation service) in terms of technical consultation, design & development and manufacturing support.
In Dr. Shuichiro Takahashi presentation, he mentioned about how Leave a Nest creates an ecosystem to help the startup & researcher to bridge the gap between academia and industry through our platform that called TECH PLANTER. Leave a Nest also believes as a researcher we need to contribute back to the society through science communication to promote an easy understanding of the audience.
