NEST Workshop Biotechnology: Calling for Participants (Aged 13-15 years old)
Our Education Division conducts NEST Workshop, a science workshop for students from the elementary to the secondary level. This time around we will be conducting a biotechnology-focused workshop. This is to promote Biotechnology as a key focus area in Malaysia in conjunction with the recent launch of the National Biotechnology Policy 2.0. This workshop, which will be held in MRANTI Makerslab, targets secondary school students aged between 13 to 15 around the Klang Valley area. We aim to educate them on the history of biotechnology and cultivate their interest in STEM education.
In this workshop, we will cover the history of biotechnology by introducing fermentation as the earliest application of biotechnology through bread dough expansion and to a more advanced application of biotechnology through DNA extraction experiments. We encourage students to join this workshop to learn about the significance of biotechnology in our everyday life. Students will be able to improve their communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills during the workshop. Students will also learn basic research methodology and experiment planning.
As such, we would like to invite students aged 13 to 15 years old to be a part of this educational journey and develop themselves as a potential future young scientist. We truly hope you can join us in the NEST workshop. If you have any further enquiries, please feel free to reach out to Dr. Ezral Ghazali at ([email protected])
