[Speakers Announcement] Hyper Interdisciplinary Conference in Indonesia 2023 Panel Session 3:  Unveiling the Future –  SATREPS Implementation in Indonesian Society

Leave a Nest Malaysia proudly presents the Hyper Interdisciplinary Conference on November 18, 2023, at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia, Depok. We are delighted to unveil the panelists for the 3rd Session, titled “Unveiling the Future –  SATREPS Implementation in Indonesian Society”.

This session will be opened with a speech from Dr. Kengo Suzuki, Chief Technology Officer, Euglena Co., Ltd. followed by a panel discussion and showcase of research collaboration between Euglena and Indonesian researchers. The panel discussion will be moderated by Mr. Enrico Gianino from Euglena Co., Ltd.

Opening Presentation Speaker

Dr. Kengo Suzuki is the Co-Founder and CTO of Euglena Co., Ltd., a Japanese biotechnology company that focuses on microalgae-based products. Dr. Suzuki holds a Ph.D. in Medical Science from Kitasato University and a PhD in Agriculture from the University of Tokyo. His expertise lies in the fields of phycology, food science, molecular biology, and immunology. Suzuki has over 15 years of experience in research and development, including his current position as a specially appointed professor at Tohoku University and visiting professor at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. As his main affiliation, Euglena is involved in various businesses like healthcare and energy & environment among others. Additionally, he has experience in the mass cultivation of euglena and the establishment of microalgae production technology laboratories.

Panel Speakers:

Dr. Keiichi Mochida has adeptly utilized combined approaches across data science and large-scale biology, encompassing parallel computing, genetics and genomics, and machine learning, to discern key genes pivotal for plant productivity across diverse plant genomes. In Indonesia, he is leading a SATREPS project focusing on microalgae-based decarbonization through an interdisciplinary research project merging information science, biotechnology, and process engineering.

 

 

Dr. Nur Akmalia Hidayati is currently a junior researcher in The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN Indonesia) who is now involved in the SATREPS project related to the microalgae-based carbon capture utilization. She previously worked on the lipid metabolism in green microalgae and have a keen interest in unlocking the potential of microalgae for the future of food and energy security, especially in Indonesia. For the on-going SATREPS project, she would like to develop the value-added products using microalgae with an approach called “Green fermentation”.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Aziz is currently an Associate Professor and Principal Investigator at the Institute of Industrial Science, The University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan. He received B. Eng., M. Eng., and D. Eng. degrees from Kyushu University, Japan, in 2004, 2006, and 2008, respectively, in the field of mechanical engineering. His general research areas are advanced energy conversion systems, mainly focusing on power generation, renewable energy utilization, process modeling, smart grid, electric vehicles, battery, and hydrogen production and utilization. He has received several awards, including Young Researcher Award from Asian Pacific Confederation of Chemical Engineering Congress in 2012, Outstanding paper award from Journal of Chemical Engineering of Japan in 2013, Japan Institute of Energy Award for Encouragement from Japan Institute of Energy in 2016, and the Best Paper Award from Japan Society of Energy and Resources in 2018. 

 


The Hyper Interdisciplinary Conference (HIC) is an initiative of the Leave a Nest Group to bring together experts across disciplines and walks of life, with the aspiration that a good level of diversity is the key to successful innovation.
