Two slides. 90 seconds. How will you make someone want to find you after you leave the stage?

Leave a Nest Singapore is calling for researchers and students to take part in HIC Splash, happening at the Hyper Interdisciplinary Conference Singapore 2026 on Saturday, 21 November 2026, at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University Novena Campus.

Under the theme “Built with AI. Built for Impact.” HIC Singapore 2026 will bring together researchers, academics, innovators, startups, corporations, government agencies and other ecosystem partners to connect knowledge across disciplines and create new possibilities for research and society.

And at 11:00 AM, the stage belongs to researchers.

Can You Communicate Your Research in 90 Seconds?

HIC Splash is one of Leave a Nest’s signature programmes for creating interdisciplinary connections.

The format is simple.

One researcher.
Two slides.
90 seconds.

But HIC Splash is not about squeezing an entire research presentation into 90 seconds.

Your goal is to create curiosity.

• What are you researching?
• What question keeps you moving forward?
• Why should someone outside your field care?
• And what knowledge, partner or connection, are you looking for next?

You have 90 seconds to give the audience a reason to remember you.

Your 90 Seconds Are Only the Beginning

Immediately after HIC Splash, the conference moves into the Poster Session & Lunch.

Every Splash presenter will have the opportunity to showcase their work through an A0 research poster, giving participants the chance to find the researchers who caught their attention and continue the conversation.

That is where the Splash becomes something more.

• A researcher from another discipline might recognise a connection you have never considered.
• A company might have a problem your research can solve.
• An innovator might see an application for your technology.
• Or someone in the audience may simply ask a question that changes how you think about your research.

Your Splash starts the conversation. Your poster takes it further.

Register Early and We Will Help You Make a Bigger Splash

Communicating years of research in 90 seconds is not easy.

So this year, Leave a Nest Singapore wants to help researchers prepare.

Researchers who register for HIC Splash will receive:

1. Feedback on your HIC Splash slide and Research Poster

Share your slide and poster with the Leave a Nest team and receive feedback on how you can communicate your research more effectively to an interdisciplinary audience.

1. Invitation to a special HIC Splash sharing session

Registrants will also be invited to a sharing session on how to present at HIC Splash for maximum effect using Leave a Nest’s Science Bridge Communication Framework.

The session will explore how researchers can communicate specialised knowledge beyond their own disciplines and identify the message that makes someone think:

“I want to speak with this researcher.”

The aim is not to make your science simpler.

The aim is to build a bridge between your research and someone who does not yet know why they need to know you.

You Do Not Need to Have All the Answers

HIC Splash is not only for completed research.

• You may have a question that you cannot answer alone.
• You may have a technology searching for its next application.
• You may need expertise from a completely different discipline.
• You may be searching for an industry partner.
• Or you may simply have discovered something that you believe more people need to know.

Researchers and students affiliated with universities and research institutes, academics, startup founders, and Leave a Nest alumni from Science Castle and Tech Planter are eligible to submit their research and science-backed venture.
