Young Malaysian Scientists to Shine at Science Castle Malaysia 2025 with 56 Innovative Posters

[29 May 2025, Cyberjaya, Malaysia] –  The future of science and innovation takes flight this July as Science Castle Malaysia 2025 returns with a bold theme: NEST – Nature, Engineering, Science & Technology. This year’s edition will spotlight 57 student poster presentations that explore impactful ideas rooted in sustainability, creativity, and real-world problem-solving.

Held at Makeramai Makerspace, a creative hub in Plaza Merdeka, Kuching, this year’s event gathers young researchers, educators, and science advocates from across Malaysia. The conference, organized by Leave a Nest Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., stands as one of the country’s only research presentation platforms exclusively dedicated to high school students.

Turning Ideas into Impact

The conference features a wide range of poster presentations tackling pressing challenges in sustainability, food technology, health, agriculture, environmental conservation, and smart systems. From banana peel bioplastics to blockchain-enabled food tracking, students are showing that age is no barrier to breakthrough thinking.

Spotlight on Student Posters

Each team will present their research in a hybrid poster pitch format: a 7-minute verbal presentation followed by a 3-minute Q&A session. Judging will be conducted by academics, corporate R&D experts, and partners.

Students from both urban and rural schools are participating, including SMK Tatau, SK Serumbu, SMK Luar Bandar Miri, SMK Lingga, and Yayasan Sarawak International Secondary School, among others. Their projects span topics such as eco-friendly detergents, reusable packaging, AI-powered health applications, and soil-friendly fertilizers.

We also had the honour of welcoming a special team from our neighbouring country, Indonesia – SMAN 3 Singkawang from Kalimantan Barat, who will presenting their inspiring research project.

A Hub for Future Innovators

Since its introduction in Malaysia in 2017, Science Castle has served as a critical stepping stone for budding researchers to present their work at both the national and regional levels. This year, winning poster presenters will be invited to pitch their projects in front of industry mentors for possible incubation or collaboration opportunities through Leave a Nest’s global network.

In a time when the world faces complex challenges like climate change, resource depletion, and technological inequity, Science Castle plays a vital role in nurturing a new generation of thinkers, builders, and changemakers. The poster session is more than just a competition; it’s a forum for ideas that can translate into real-world impact.
