Kuala Lumpur, 15 August 2025 – The seventh edition of the Tech-Garage Seminar Series, themed “Twin Intelligence: The Future of Smart Systems with AI and Digital Twins”, was successfully held at the Center of Garage Malaysia, Cyberjaya. Running from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the seminar attracted participants from government agencies, academia, startups, and industry players eager to explore the transformative potential of digital twin and AI-powered technologies in Malaysia’s smart city and Industry 4.0 initiatives.

The session began with an opening introduction by Dr. Hadi Akbar from Leave a Nest Malaysia, who explained how the Leave a Nest ecosystem supports Deep Tech by creating an environment for innovation development, implementation, and acceleration. This was followed by Mr. Shohei Michael Maekawa’s presentation on the Globalsouth Project, an initiative with Ricoh that introduces advanced tools such as the Spatial Viewer and Odor Sensor. He highlighted how the project is being deployed across Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand to drive technological exchange, capacity building and the deployment of innovative solutions in emerging markets.

The session featured Ricoh’s vision for integrating AI and digital twin technologies into smart system ecosystems. The presentation from Mr. Satoshi Yamamoto, Section Manager at the Ricoh Innovation Center in Asia (RICA), who shared Ricoh’s vision of embedding digital twin technologies into smart system ecosystems. His presentation highlighted applications in urban management, infrastructure monitoring, and manufacturing, showcasing how digital twins enable real-time operational visibility, predictive analytics, and simulation-based decision-making. He ends his presentation with a call for collaboration with Ricoh Solutions especially on the execution of Proof of Concept of the new technology.

Additional insights came from Cyberview Sdn. Bhd., which emphasized Cyberjaya’s role as Malaysia’s global technology hub. The presentation illustrated how Cyberview is spearheading ecosystem development, providing infrastructure, regulatory support, and a thriving innovation community for smart city initiatives.

The seminar also featured Beyond Horizon, represented by Nasrol Muhamin (Director of Digitalization) and Mr. Fadzly (CEO of Beyond Horizon), who presented on the integration of digital twin technology into industrial operations. Case studies demonstrated how intelligent virtual models of physical assets can reduce operational risks, improve safety, and cut costs by enabling faster and more accurate decision-making.

Participants actively engaged in Q&A sessions and networking discussions, focusing on how these technologies can be localized and scaled for Malaysia’s infrastructure, manufacturing, and smart city projects.

The event concluded with a networking refreshment, fostering connections between technology developers, government agencies and corporate stakeholders. Many attendees expressed keen interest in pilot projects and collaborative initiatives to accelerate the adoption of digital twin technologies in Malaysia.

The Tech-Garage Seminar Series continues to serve as a key platform for connecting global deep-tech innovations with local challenges, paving the way for smarter and more sustainable futures in Southeast Asia.
