On April 6, the inaugural session of the Science and Entrepreneurship Training Program, Modules 1 & 2, hosted by Leave a Nest Philippines, took place at their office in Orient Square Building, Pasig City, Philippines.

Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Training (SCENT) is a six-month program aimed at equipping undergraduate and graduate students with a Japanese-style Research and Business mindset, essential for transforming deep technology innovations into successful commercial ventures.

SCENT aims to foster innovative mindsets among students, presenting entrepreneurship as both a necessity to create change in the country, while also being an appealing career path for S&T graduates and undergraduates. It offers both practical and theoretical knowledge to empower future innovators and entrepreneurs, stressing the importance of perseverance from startup inception to long-term sustainability. More importantly, it creates a big impact in the country through the creation of more jobs for S&T graduates when these teams transform their ideas into sustainable businesses.

The SCENT Program received support from esteemed corporate partner Focus Systems Corporation from Japan. Founded in 1977, Focus Systems Corporation is a global technology industry leader dedicated to leveraging technology for sustainable societal solutions, embodying their corporate slogan “Put Our Heart into Technologies.”

Recognizing the potential of the next generation in the Philippines, Focus Systems Corporation has continuously partnered with Leave a Nest Philippines in various initiatives, including supporting interdisciplinary collaboration to address deeply-rooted problems. For this time Focus Systems Corporation is supporting the SCENT program to empower students with the necessary mindset for commercializing deep technology innovations.
