Meet the Five Recipient Teams of The Ki Ni Naru Project 2026-2027 Lockheed Martin Explorer Scholarship!

Leave a Nest Philippines is proud to announce the five recipient teams of The Ki Ni Naru Project 2026-2027 Lockheed Martin Explorer Scholarship.

The Ki Ni Naru Project is a 5-month research training program for high school students to explore their curiosity and take their first steps toward scientific research. Through an educational tour, workshop, series of mentorship, and interaction with fellow young researchers, the program helps students turn their “Ki Ni Naru”, which are the things that make them curious, into questions they can investigate through science.

Through the Lockheed Martin Explorer Scholarship, five teams composed of junior and senior high school students from different parts of the Philippines have been selected to receive full support for their participation in this year’s program.

1. Puerto Princesa City National Science High School

Research Interest: Oceans, coral reefs, and marine life, inspired by Palawan’s rich marine environment.

2. Jose C. Payumo Jr. Memorial High School

Research Interest: Habagat, heavy rainfall, and flooding, and how communities can better prepare for their impacts.

3. San Pablo City Science Integrated High School

Research Interest: Technology-driven agriculture and space science, exploring how innovation can open new possibilities in both fields.

4. Muntinlupa Science High School

Research Interest: Astrophysics, using mathematics and physics to explore patterns in how objects in space behave.

5. Tanza National Comprehensive High School

Research Interest: Vector-borne diseases and epidemiology, particularly how diseases are transmitted, identified, and treated.

The selected teams have been notified via email and asked to confirm their scholarship slots and participation in the program.

Beginning Their Ki Ni Naru Journey

Each recipient team will receive full participation support for five students and one teacher, allowing them to take part in The Ki Ni Naru Project 2026-2027 research training journey. Under this year’s theme, “The World You Can’t See,” the students will be challenged to look beyond what is immediately visible—whether beneath the ocean, within changing weather patterns, through emerging technologies, across the vastness of space, or in the unseen transmission of disease.

Through the Ki Ni Naru Project and Lockheed Martin Explorer Scholarship, Leave a Nest Philippines and Lockheed Martin hope to provide more Filipino students with opportunities to experience scientific research firsthand and discover where their own curiosity can take them.

Congratulations to the 25 student explorers, their teachers, and their schools! We look forward to seeing how their questions grow and what new worlds they uncover throughout their Ki Ni Naru journey.
