Leave a Nest Philippines Forges MOU with Bulacan State University for Local Development in Manufacturing, Agriculture and Sustainability

Leave a Nest Philippines has been consistently expanding its knowledge platform in various areas within and outside Manila, and has taken the initiative to push through with partnerships near the Metro Manila area, including Bulacan.

On the 9th of May 2024, Leave a Nest Philippines (LVNS PH) and Bulacan State University (BulSU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding for collaboration in the development of the deep technology ecosystem in Bulacan, especially in the fields of manufacturing, agriculture and sustainability. The signing ceremony was conducted with Dr. Keno C. Piad (BulSU Vice President for Research Extension and Innovation), Engr. Nemuel Norman Giron (DOST-BulSU BARAS TBI Center Manager), Dr. Yevgeny Aster Dulla (Managing Director, LVNS PH) and Engr. Ronezza Delos Santos (Director, LVNS PH).

During the signing ceremony, Dr. Piad expressed that BulSU is one with Leave a Nest as they recognize the importance of nurturing curiosity and helping it develop into inquiry and activities that contribute to society. He also excitedly shared his vision of Bulacan being the center of mushroom propagation, in addition to the upcoming activities and facilities that will be established in the university such as the BulSU National BLITS Park. After Dr. Piad, Engr. Giron discussed the current and future activities of their Technology Business Incubator: DOST-BulSU BARAS TBI while looking forward to collaborations with Leave a Nest in co-incubation and other research and development projects.

In response to Dr. Piad and Engr. Giron, Dr. Dulla mentioned that Leave a Nest would be very much willing to support the research and development activities on mushrooms that BulSU would be implementing, seeing that it is really a very unique initiative in the country. Aside from research and development projects like this, he also envisions collaborations in faculty and student immersions, community involvement projects, competitions and hackathons and business matching. We are also happy to share that some of Leave a Nest’s TECH PLANTER Alumni, including the Grand Winner of 2021, Anihan Technologies, will also be supported by BARAS TBI as one of their incubatees.

After the MOU signing, members of Leave a Nest Philippines and Leave a Nest Singapore were guided around the centers and facilities of BulSU, leading to deeper and more specific discussions on the next steps and opportunities brought by the signing of the MOU. With these, future initiatives between LVNS PH and BulSU are definitely something to watch out for — which will most likely focus on engineering, natural resources, and of course, mushrooms.
