Ltd. is proud to present a special session by UntroD and Yamada Shokai Holding on the theme of Energy Resilience at the upcoming Global Knowledge Hub Forum on 20th August 2025 at NTU Alumni House. This session will bring together innovators, investors, and entrepreneurs who are shaping the future of energy systems through resilient and sustainable technologies.

The session will open with remarks by Mr. Yamada Toyohisa, President of Yamada Shokai Holding Co., Ltd.. Yamada Shokai, a Japan-based industrial solutions firm, carries a distinguished legacy in driving engineering innovation and advancing sustainable manufacturing. In recent years, the company has undertaken a strategic transformation through the establishment of Yamada Shokai Holding, positioning itself to meet the evolving lifestyle and energy needs of society. Moving beyond its traditional focus on gas infrastructure, the group now integrates solutions across electricity, water, and home renovations—reflecting its vision to address broader energy system reforms. As an investor in deep tech and clean energy ventures, Yamada Shokai exemplifies a forward-looking commitment to shaping the next phase of industrial and societal transformation. As part of these efforts, Yamada Shokai Holding recently became a Limited Partner of UntroD Capital Asia's Real Tech Global Fund 2.

The centerpiece of the session will be a panel discussion featuring three of UntroD’s promising portfolio companies: SolX, Alterno, and VFlowTech. These startups are tackling energy resilience from different angles; SolX is advancing real-time analytics for decarbonising maritime operations, Alterno is building smart battery systems for flexible and modular energy storage and VFlowTech is developing vanadium redox flow batteries that support grid-level renewable energy deployment. The panel will be moderated by Mr Henry Tao, Director, UntroD Capital Asia and will offer insights into the unique technologies, challenges and opportunities these companies are addressing in the global energy landscape.

The session will conclude with closing remarks by Mr. Akihiko Nagata, Managing Director of UntroD, who will reflect on the importance of venture support in accelerating deep tech solutions for energy resilience and the broader role of collaboration across Asia in achieving a sustainable future.

Yamada Toyohisa, President and CEO of Yamada Shokai Holdings Co., Ltd.

In March 2004, he graduated from the Graduate School of Engineering at the University of Tokyo, majoring in Chemical Systems Engineering, and joined Yamada Shokai Co., Ltd. He was appointed director in May 2007. In May 2010, as head of the newly established Corporate Planning Office, he began working on improving accounting operations and the work environment. In March 2011, he was appointed Managing Executive Officer, and in March 2014, he was appointed Senior Managing Executive Officer, promoting the development of multi-skilled workers across business areas and departments. In September 2016, he was appointed Executive Vice President, and in May 2020, he was appointed President and CEO.

Hai Ho, CEO, Alterno

Hai Ho is a dynamic serial entrepreneur profoundly committed to sustainable development and technological innovation. Throughout his career, Hai has left an indelible mark on the travel, blockchain and climate tech sectors, demonstrating prowess in product development, team building, and fundraising. Central to his ethos is a philosophy that prioritizes sustainability: “To spearhead pioneering business models that catalyze industry-wide sustainable transformation.” This unwavering commitment is reflected in his notable features across prominent financial media outlets such as The Bloomberg Vietnam 2024 Catalysts, The Wall Street Journal, CNN, Forbes, Nikkei Asia, Tech In Asia, e27, The Next Web, Pacific Asia Travel Association and Shark Tank Vietnam.

Sergius Angelo Santos , CEO and Co-Founder of SolX

SolX Technologies is the first Filipino tech company offering integrated energy solutions. SolX delivers end-to-end services that drive energy savings through innovative technology. The company supports over 150 industrial and commercial facilities as clients, representing 500MW in contracted capacity and ₱1 billion in total energy savings. Sergius holds a Master’s in Engineering from the Kyushu Institute of Technology in Japan as a Japanese Government Scholar, and a Bachelor’s in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Ateneo de Manila University, graduating in the top 10% as a Samsung Scholar. He furthered his academic experience through research and exchange programs at Chung Yuan Christian University in Taiwan and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and completed the Design Thinking for Social Innovation program at Stanford University.

Avishek Kumar, CEO and Co-Founder, VFlowTech

Dr. Avishek is a pioneer in energy storage solutions with over a decade of expertise in energy storage and renewable energy. Holding a PhD from the National University of Singapore, he has been instrumental in scaling innovative technologies, including the high-efficiency half-cut PERC Mono solar modules, which helped reduce solar PV costs by 30%. Passionate about sustainability, Dr. Avishek has co-founded and scaled three deep tech companies in IoT, solar, and energy storage, and has contributed to over 5 GW of solar and energy storage projects across the region.

Akihiko Nagata, Managing Director, UntroD

Mr Nagata has served as Director of Euglena Co., Ltd., since the pre-IPO phase and led the company's business strategy, finance, and the biofuel business. In 2021, he was appointed CEO and retired from the company in 2024. In 2015, he established the Real Tech Fund to promote deep-tech investment to address social issues. In 2024, , appointed as CEO of UntroD Capital Japan, which manages the fund. He also founded and managed Ame Kaze Taiyo, Inc, and serves as an advisor to HERALBONY
