Announcement of Leave a Nest Malaysia Becomes the Southeast Asia Headquarters of Leave a Nest Group

CYBERJAYA 14th OCTOBER 2024 – Leave a Nest Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. proudly announces its appointment as the Southeast Asia Headquarters for Leave a Nest Group. This new structure marks a significant step for Leave a Nest Group to strengthen further collaboration and expansion into Southeast Asia. Leave a Nest Malaysia undertook this new responsibility with its mission for this year, “Leading Co-Creation in Southeast Asia from Malaysia”.

Founded on 14th October 2013 at Kuala Lumpur, as one of the 3rd overseas subsidiaries in Leave a Nest Group, Leave a Nest Malaysia in its early days has been focusing on education similarly to how it started in Japan. The company has begun local activities from education workshops for school students to nurture curiosity and passion in science and technology. In 2015, they launched the TECH PLANTER in Malaysia, a unique platform to support researchers and deep-tech startups who aim to implement science and technology in society. They have expanded the connections with local university research institutions and deep-tech venture companies.

In 2016, Leave a Nest Malaysia achieved a significant milestone by hiring its first local members, expanding the platforms of Science Education, Human Development, Research Development and Startup in Malaysia.  In 2018, they started the “Career Discovery Forum in Malaysia” which is a platform for graduates and job seekers to engage with industries, and in 2019, initiated the “Hyper Interdisciplinary Conference” which aims to create collaborative research projects across research fields and industries. Then to effectively strengthen its aspiration towards localisation, one of the first local members, Mr. Abdul Hakim Sahidi was appointed to be the youngest and first local Managing Director ever among overseas subsidiaries in 2019.(Ref. https://lne.st/2019/05/14/lvnsmy_hakim_md/

YB Ahmad Fahmi Bin Mohamed Fadzil, Minister of Communication joined MOU Ceremony with Cyberview in May 2023.

However, during the worldwide outbreak of COVID-19, the number of local members was reduced to two for a time, and the company was almost forced to withdraw from the market. Even in such a situation, the Managing Director Hakim made a bold move in May 2022 and relocated the office from Kuala Lumpur to Cyberjaya, a special economic zone. On May 16, 2023, they signed an MOU with Cyberview, a development company in the Cyberjaya area, which led to the acceleration of members recruitment activities as well.

Japanese founder directors and Malaysian members discussed in Founders Session in August 2024.

Now in 2024 October, the total number of local directors and members has increased to 18. In August 2024, they held a Founders' Mindset Session where the founding members in Japan and all directors and employees in Malaysia gathered to discuss the future of the Leave a Nset Group. “The most important part of becoming Southeast Asia Headquarters is the mindset of team members. In August, we brought the Leave a Nest Group founders and directors from Japan to Malaysia to discuss with local members. It was a precious opportunity for each other to share and nurture the founders' mindset. We strongly believe that our Malaysian members can strengthen the foundation of the Leave a Nest ecosystem in Southeast Asia.”
