LiSH Lab Opens in TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY on May 13, Establishing a “Knowledge & Research based Economy” with Science and Technology

Tokyo's largest wet-lab facility aims to foster deep tech innovation and sustainable business development

TOKYO – April 2025 – Leave a Nest Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinjuku, Tokyo; Representative director: Yukihiro Maru; hereinafter “Leave a Nest”), an operating partner of Tokyo's largest wet-lab facility “TAKANAWA GATEWAY Link Scholars' Hub Lab” (LiSH Lab), has announced the official opening of the facility on May 13, 2025, within TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY, which was unveiled by East Japan Railway Company (Headquarters: Shibuya, Tokyo; President: Yoichi Kise; hereinafter “JR East”) on March 27, 2025.

Since its initial planning stage, LiSH Lab has aimed to harmonize environmental and life science technologies, supporting research and development in deep tech sectors that typically require substantial time for social implementation. Through collaboration between resident startups, corporations, universities, and community users, the facility seeks to foster businesses that will contribute to global sustainability for the next century. This marks the birth of one of the largest wet-lab sharing facilities in Tokyo.

LiSH Lab Concept:
Nurturing the fulfillment of people, the global environment, and all living things toward the realization of a fulfilling life that continues for 100 years

The Leave a Nest Group believes that 2025 represents a significant turning point globally, where technologies developed in Japan and worldwide will recombine to initiate a true environmental revolution that transcends conventional frameworks like “eco” and “green.” Simultaneously, to drive an economy centered on environmental technologies, it is essential to create a society where technologies from startups like those gathered in LiSH Lab become commonplace, shifting from financial capitalism to knowledge capitalism where the value of knowledge itself is exchanged.

With the opening of LiSH Lab, Leave a Nest aims to establish a “Knowledge & Research based Economy” as a new mechanism of knowledge capitalism. This initiative will accelerate research, development, and social implementation by resident startups, enhancing the value of knowledge generated through science and technology, and positioning knowledge and research at the center of the economy. This vision was originally announced at Leave a Nest's 17th anniversary party in 2019 as the “Leave a Nest Group 2026 Vision,” and is now being fully launched through collaboration with JR East.
