Leave a Nest Philippines Prepares for Another Exciting Rollout of the Ki-ni-Naru Project

Calling all junior and senior high-school students from the Philippines!
Leave a Nest Philippines, Inc. is thrilled to announce that we’re gearing up for another run of the Ki-ni-Naru Project, our 5-month science and research training program for high school students. True to its Japanese name Ki-ni-Naru (気になる), meaning ‘to be curious’ or ‘to want to know’, the program invites students to look closer, think deeper, and explore the world with fresh eyes.
Having already made a lasting impression in the Philippines, the Ki-ni-Naru Project is back for its 4th run, while continuing its mission to empower young students. With each iteration, it has gone far beyond teaching research methods; it has encouraged students to see themselves as scientists and innovators, which invites them to view the world with wonder and to transform their own discoveries into real world innovations.
This Year’s Theme: Unraveling Nature’s Mysteries and Secrets
This year, we invite students to step into the role of explorers and discoverers as we turn our attention to the wonders of the natural world. The 4th run encourages young minds to pause, observe, and engage with the environment around them not just as spectators, but as curious real world scientists who seek answers.
The theme emphasizes the importance of reconnecting with nature in an increasingly digital and fast-paced world. By observing patterns, or exploring the forces at play in everyday phenomena, students can experience how science is not confined to textbooks or laboratories it is alive in every leaf, rock, ripple, and beam of light
What's in store for our student researchers?
The following modules would be accessible throughout the Program Implementation which will serve as a guide for our young scientists.
Introduction to Scientific Research |
The program will kick things off by introducing the scientific method, a step-by-step process for turning curiosity into discovery. Through fun and engaging activities, we’ll show how research goes beyond textbooks and becomes a tool for understanding the world around us. |
Formulating Hypotheses |
Every great investigation starts with the right question. In this module, students will learn how to sharpen their curiosity into clear, testable research questions and use them to build strong hypotheses forming the foundation of their projects. |
Data Collection & Analysis |
Science is all about evidence. As students explore and unravel the wonders of nature, we’ll guide them in collecting meaningful data, spotting patterns, and making sense of their results. |
Communicating Your Findings |
Research doesn’t end in the lab, it’s meant to be shared. Here, students will gain the confidence to present and defend their work, learning how to communicate their ideas clearly to a wide range of audience. |
Great Nature Quest + Pugad Agham Workshop |
These special sessions take science out of the classroom and into the real world. Through immersive, hands-on activities, students will experience the thrill of scientific investigation personally, making learning active, memorable, and exciting. |
We kick things off on October 4, 2025 and wrap up with the Final Presentation on February 21, 2025, with the final venue yet to be announced. Over the course of five months, students will dive into mentoring sessions, guided research modules, and immersive activities all leading up to a showcase of their projects.
This year’s Ki-ni-Naru is all about sparking that fire for science and pushing students to explore, question, and discover like never before. We’re making this run one for the books packed with moments they’ll never forget. So gear up, stay tuned, and join us as we take this adventure together!
