TECH VENTURE Meetup Johor Bahru 2026: Johor Beyond Borders Panel Session

As Johor’s technology ecosystem continues to develop alongside stronger connections with Singapore and the wider region, opportunities are emerging for local startups and organisations to collaborate with companies across borders.

As part of TECH VENTURE Meetup Johor Bahru 2026, Leave a Nest Singapore will host the panel discussion “Johor Beyond Borders: Building Cross-Border Partnerships”, bringing together perspectives from robotics, automation and digital ecosystem development to explore how Johor organisations and cross-border companies can create mutual value.

The discussion will explore practical pathways for collaboration, including technology integration, market access, industry adoption, local partnerships and joint regional expansion. Speakers will also share experiences from building technology businesses, entering new markets and developing the partnerships needed to turn technology into commercially viable solutions.

Panelists

	Dr. Che Fai Yeong — CEO & Co-Founder, DF Automation & Robotics Dr. Che Fai Yeong is the CEO and Co-Founder of Johor-based DF Automation & Robotics. A former Associate Professor at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia with a PhD from Imperial College London, his work spans robotics, AI, smart manufacturing, commercialisation and entrepreneurship. He has co-founded multiple technology companies and has extensive experience bringing locally developed robotics technologies from research and development towards commercial and international markets.
	Ryan Wu — APAC Sales, LionsBot Ryan Wu is a commercial leader with more than 17 years of international experience across industrial equipment, automation and cleaning technology. Having previously held regional leadership roles at Nilfisk across Asia Pacific and the Middle East, Ryan now leads APAC sales at Singapore robotics company LionsBot, where he focuses on regional market expansion, distributor development and strategic partnerships.
	Mydiana Madzlan — Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) Mydiana Madzlan is a regional ecosystem builder with experience spanning digital economy policy, investment attraction, corporate innovation and venture building. Through MDEC’s Southern Region office, her portfolio focuses on developing the AI ecosystem and supporting digital and technology investments within the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JSSEZ).

Through the perspectives of a Johor-grown robotics company, a Singapore technology company expanding across regional markets, and an organisation developing Johor’s digital ecosystem, the panel aims to give participating startups and ecosystem builders practical insights into how cross-border relationships can develop into meaningful, mutually beneficial partnerships.

What to Expect at TVMU Johor Bahru

Beyond the Johor Beyond Borders panel, the afternoon programme will feature startup pitches from Johor-based ventures, sharing sessions from ecosystem and industry partners, networking opportunities, and discussions connecting startups with potential collaborators from Malaysia and beyond. The programme is designed not only to showcase emerging technologies, but also to create opportunities for new industry, market and cross-border connections.
