Exploring Innovative Solutions and Strategic Networks Across Borders

Cyberjaya – Leave a Nest Malaysia successfully hosted a Deep Tech Tour to Bandung, Indonesia, on 24–26 July 2025, bringing together delegates from the Sabah Creative Economy and Innovation Centre (SCENIC) and the private sector to explore innovation ecosystems, strengthen strategic networks, and foster regional collaboration. The delegation included, Ms. Suhailah, Manager, Technology & Digital IoT Sandbox, Capacity Building and Ecosystem (CBE), SCENIC, Ms. Misrah Madain, Executive, Capacity Building and Ecosystem, SCENIC, and Ms. Christina Chia, Founder of Blaze Tech Sdn. Bhd.
Day 1: University-Driven Innovation & Deep Tech Startups
The tour began with a visit to PT Rekacipta Inovasi Bandung, a key commercialization arm supporting the distribution of research and innovation products from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB). The 3-hour session included presentations from both sides and a fruitful discussion on future collaboration opportunities. Next, the delegates met with Mr. Zulfikar Rifan, Co-Founder and CEO of Foodurama, who shared his experience in building and scaling startups in the Indonesian foodtech space. In the afternoon, the group had a meaningful session with Mr. Muhammad Alief Irham, Founder of Batari Energy, to explore potential collaboration in renewable and battery energy innovations. Day 1 concluded with high engagement and alignment on key outcomes.

Day 2: Ecosystem Builders & Government Partnership
The second day began with a visit to Block71 Bandung, a global ecosystem builder supporting high-impact startups. The delegates met with the Block71 team and several startups under its umbrella, including PT Lokakarya Inovasi Bersama and Meatless Kingdom. These interactions provided valuable insights into community-driven innovation and ecosystem development. In the afternoon, the delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Government of Bandung, where they met Dr. Asep Cucu Cahyadi, M.Si, Assistant for Government and Public Welfare, representing the Mayor, Mr. Muhammad Farhan. This was Leave a Nest’s first official engagement with the city government, laying the foundation for future partnerships.

On the final day, the delegates attended the Tech Planter Indonesia Demo Day, where Ms. Suhailah proudly represented SCENIC as one of the global judges for the program. This engagement further highlighted SCENIC’s commitment to supporting regional innovation and talent development.
In summary, the Deep Tech Tour successfully met its objectives, enabling (i) cross-border knowledge exchange, (ii) access to innovation networks, and (iii) potential collaborations in deep tech, foodtech, and clean energy. The tour also reinforced Leave a Nest’s presence in Indonesia, while opening new pathways for SCENIC and Blaze Tech to scale their initiatives through meaningful regional partnerships.
