Advancing Microbial Innovation Across Sectors: The Microbiology Innovation Summit 2026 to Gather Researchers and Industry Leaders in Iloilo City

Leave a Nest Philippines, guided by its mission of “Harmonizing Science and Technology Stakeholders for the Empowerment of the Filipinos,” continues to expand platforms that bridge research and real-world applications. This August 15, 2026, the Microbiology Innovation Summit 2026 (MIS 2026) will bring together researchers, industry professionals, startups, students, and government stakeholders at Central Philippine University, Iloilo City.
MIS 2026 goes beyond microbiology as a discipline by highlighting its role in addressing challenges across agriculture, food systems, health, biotechnology, environmental management, industry, and other sectors, creating opportunities for collaboration among stakeholders from diverse fields.
Why Microbiology? Why Now?
Over the past few years, Leave a Nest Philippines has witnessed a growing interest in microbiology and its applications across agriculture, food systems, environmental sustainability, health, biotechnology, and industrial development. This momentum has been particularly evident in Western Visayas through various Leave a Nest initiatives, including the Hyper Interdisciplinary Conference (HIC) and TECH PLANTER, where researchers, students, startups, and industry partners have increasingly explored microbial technologies as solutions to real-world challenges.
Recognizing this growing ecosystem, MIS 2026 was established to create a dedicated platform where microbiology researchers and stakeholders can exchange knowledge, form meaningful collaborations, and accelerate the translation of scientific discoveries into impactful technologies, projects, and community-driven solutions.
Building on the interdisciplinary collaborations initiated through the HIC 2025 Iloilo Forum, the summit seeks to strengthen connections between research, industry, government, and society through microbiology-driven innovation.
The Nucleus of Innovation: Microbiology Connecting Disciplines and Sectors
With the theme, “The Nucleus of Innovation: Microbiology Connecting Disciplines and Sectors,” the summit highlights microbiology as a central science that connects and integrates multiple disciplines while addressing pressing societal and industrial challenges. It reflects the growing role of Iloilo and the Visayas as an emerging hub for interdisciplinary microbiology research and innovation.
As microbial technologies continue to drive advancements in sustainable agriculture, food systems, disease diagnostics, environmental remediation, health, biotechnology, marine science, and industrial applications, the summit emphasizes the importance of stronger collaboration among microbiologists, engineers, entrepreneurs, policymakers, data scientists, social scientists, and researchers from diverse fields. Such partnerships are essential for translating scientific discoveries into practical solutions with broader societal impact.
The summit is designed to foster knowledge exchange and collaboration through a series of curated sessions that bring together participants from different areas of microbiology and related disciplines. Research presenters will showcase emerging studies, technologies, and innovative ideas while engaging directly with peers, industry representatives, and potential collaborators. The program will also feature expert discussions on current opportunities and future directions in microbiology, as well as collaborative sessions aimed at identifying challenges, exploring opportunities, and generating new ideas for future initiatives.
Beyond sharing research findings, MIS 2026 aims to serve as a launchpad for new collaborations, research initiatives, technology development efforts, and community-focused projects. Through these interactions, participants are encouraged to transform ideas into concrete actions that can address pressing regional and national challenges.

Present, Collaborate, and Create New Projects at MIS 2026
MIS 2026 invites students, researchers, educators, innovators, industry leaders, and government stakeholders to share ideas, build connections, and develop solutions together.
Ready to showcase your work?

Register as a presenter at https://global.lne.st/PresentatMIS2026. Please be reminded that application registration closes on July 31, 2026, at 11:59 PM.
The summit offers an opportunity to showcase research, technologies, and innovative ideas to a diverse audience of researchers, industry representatives, policymakers, students, educators, entrepreneurs, and potential collaborators. More importantly, it provides a venue to explore how research and innovation can move beyond the laboratory and create meaningful impact in communities, industries, and society.
More importantly, the summit provides an opportunity to highlight the value of research, technology, and innovation in addressing pressing challenges across the Visayas and the Philippines. From food security and sustainable agriculture to environmental management, public health, biotechnology, and other emerging fields, participants will be encouraged to explore how their work can create meaningful impact beyond academia. MIS 2026 aims to bridge the gap between research and application by fostering connections that can help bring promising studies, technologies, and innovations out of universities and into the field, where communities, industries, and society can directly benefit from them.
We encourage participants not only to present their work, but also to identify opportunities for collaboration, develop new ideas, and initiate projects that can continue long after the summit concludes.
