Future Food & Fuel Summit 2026: Building the Next Chapter of Singapore–Japan Collaboration in Food and Energy

Leave a Nest Singapore is pleased to share the latest programme for the Future Food & Fuel Summit (FFFS) 2026, an invitation-only Singapore–Japan platform bringing together leaders from government, industry, academia, startups, investment and research to accelerate collaboration across future food and future energy.

Held in conjunction with the 60th anniversary of Singapore–Japan diplomatic relations (SJ60) and supported by the Embassy of Japan in Singapore, the Summit looks beyond commemorating the past 60 years towards the technologies, partnerships and opportunities that Singapore and Japan can build together for the decades ahead.

Taking place on Friday, 2 October 2026, at Padang & Co, Singapore, FFFS will convene approximately 100 carefully curated participants from Singapore and Japan. The programme is designed to move beyond dialogue towards research collaborations, technology deployment, pilot projects, investment, commercial partnerships and longer-term bilateral collaboration.

The Ambassador of Japan to Singapore is expected to grace the Summit, alongside stakeholders spanning the food, energy, infrastructure, investment, research and innovation ecosystems.

Programme Highlights

FFFS 2026 will feature an Opening Ceremony, Strategic Keynote, two Future Food panels, two Future Energy panels, a Singapore–Japan Strategic Roundtable, curated Deal Rooms, technology showcases, business matching and a Closing Ceremony.

Future Food Panel 1: Scaling Future Food Systems

Developing new food technologies is only the beginning. For food innovation to contribute meaningfully to future resilience, it must move from scientific possibility towards scalable production, commercial viability and consumer acceptance.

Bringing together perspectives across cultivated food technology, biomanufacturing and scale-up, culinary application and consumer adoption, the panel will examine how Singapore and Japan can build food systems that are technologically feasible, commercially viable and accepted by the market. This framing reflects the latest panel direction and confirmed line-up.

Future Energy Panel 1: Next Generation Energy

Building energy resilience means not only scaling the solutions available today, but preparing for the technologies, fuels and investment pathways that could shape the decades ahead.

Bringing together perspectives across fusion energy, green methanol, and energy investment and deployment, this panel will explore what it takes for next-generation energy solutions to progress from technological potential towards commercial deployment.

Panelists: Yosuke Kubo, Helical Fusion; Zhaotan Xiao, METHA8; and Abhay Shah, Shizuoka Gas Asia.

Future Energy Panel 2: Unlocking the Full Potential of Renewable Energy

The energy transition is not only about generating more renewable power, but about integrating it effectively into the places where people live, work and build.

Bringing together technology, green-building and property-development perspectives, this panel will explore next-generation solar and building-integrated solutions, alongside the standards, infrastructure, industry adoption and partnerships required to translate renewable technologies into practical deployment across buildings and cities.

Panelists: Dr Yukihiro Kaneko, Panasonic Holdings Corporation; Stephen Tay, Singapore Green Building Council; and Aylwin Tan, CapitaLand.

Future Food Panel 2: Shaping the Next Food Economy

The future of food will be shaped not only by what can be scientifically developed, but also by what consumers will adopt and what markets can support.

This panel explores the future of protein through the interconnected lenses of technology, consumer adoption and market access. From land-efficient food production and sustainable proteins to halal trade and regional commercialisation, the discussion will examine how emerging food innovations can progress from scientific development towards consumer acceptance and scalable markets across Singapore, Japan and Southeast Asia.

Panelists: Yosuke Kurihara, ARK Inc.; Dr H. Zuraimi Jumaat, Everdeen Global; and Dr Aimee Pink, Bezos Centre for Sustainable Protein at NUS.

Singapore–Japan Strategic Roundtable: Every Square Metre Counts

Singapore and Japan share a common challenge: how can resource-constrained societies continue to grow while demand for food, energy, infrastructure and sustainable development continues to increase?

As every square metre becomes increasingly valuable, future resilience will depend on how food, energy, infrastructure and technology work together rather than as separate systems.

The semi-closed Singapore–Japan Strategic Roundtable will bring together selected leaders across these sectors to identify tangible opportunities for technology deployment, pilots, commercial partnerships and longer-term Singapore–Japan collaboration.

Rather than treating the Roundtable as a separate conversation, it will bring together the perspectives developed throughout the day’s Future Food and Future Energy discussions and examine where these systems intersect.
