Future Food & Fuel Summit 2026: A Singapore–Japan Government-to-Government Initiative Driving the Next Generation of Food and Energy Innovation

Future Food & Fuel Summit 2026: Advancing Singapore–Japan Collaboration in Food and Energy Innovation
Singapore, 1 September 2026 – Leave a Nest Singapore is pleased to announce the Future Food & Fuel Summit (FFFS) 2026, a flagship Singapore–Japan platform bringing together leaders from government, industry, academia, startups, investment and research to accelerate collaboration across future food and future energy.
Held in conjunction with the 60th anniversary of Singapore–Japan diplomatic relations and supported by the Embassy of Japan in Singapore, the Summit will strengthen bilateral partnerships and help translate scientific innovation into research collaborations, pilot projects, commercial opportunities and wider societal impact.
The invitation-only Summit will convene approximately 100 carefully selected participants from Singapore and Japan on Friday, 2 October 2026, at Padang & Co, Singapore.
The Ambassador of Japan to Singapore will join the Opening Ceremony and Welcome Addresses. The attendance of the proposed Guest of Honour is currently being finalised.
Programme Highlights
FFFS 2026 will feature an Opening Ceremony, a strategic Singapore–Japan keynote, two Future Food panels, two Future Energy panels, a Strategic Roundtable, curated Deal Rooms, technology showcases and business matching.
Future Food Panel 1: Scaling Future Food Systems
This panel will examine how emerging food technologies can progress from research and pilot stages towards production, commercialisation and responsible regional market access. The discussion will cover production infrastructure, industry readiness, halal considerations, documentation, traceability and the partnerships required to scale new food technologies.
Future Energy Panel 1: Next Generation Energy
This panel will explore how fusion, hydrogen, ammonia, biofuels, waste-to-energy and other frontier technologies can contribute to a more secure and sustainable energy future. It will also examine the research, investment, infrastructure and cross-border partnerships needed to accelerate commercialisation and deployment.
Future Energy Panel 2: Unlocking the Full Potential of Renewable Energy
This panel will examine how renewable energy can be integrated more effectively across buildings, cities and industries. Topics will include perovskite solar cells, building-integrated photovoltaics, energy storage, intelligent grids, energy-management systems and opportunities for test-bedding and real-world implementation.
Future Food Panel 2: Future Protein and Food Innovation
This panel will explore sustainable proteins, precision fermentation, cultivated food, functional ingredients, microbiome innovation and next-generation nutrition. The conversation will focus on translating scientific research into scalable, commercially viable solutions for Asian and global markets.
Strategic Roundtable: Every Square Metre Matters
Singapore and Japan share a common challenge: how can resource-constrained societies continue to grow while demand for food, energy and sustainable development increases?
As every square metre becomes increasingly valuable, future resilience will depend on how food, energy, infrastructure and technology work together as an interconnected ecosystem rather than as separate sectors.
The invitation-only Singapore–Japan Strategic Roundtable, “Every Square Metre Matters: Feeding and Empowering the Future,” will convene selected leaders from government, industry, academia, startups, investment and research.
The insights and recommendations developed through the Roundtable are intended to inform the Future Food & Fuel Summit White Paper, which will serve as a strategic reference for participating organisations, policymakers, industry leaders and ecosystem partners.
