Report on inaugural Hyper Interdisciplinary Conference in the Philippines! – Island Issues and its Potential –

We are happy to announce that Leave a Net Co., Ltd. have launched the inaugural Hyper Interdisciplinary Conference in the Philippines on 7th December, 2019 at Philippine Trade Training Center, Pasay City. Upon the conference theme titled “Island Issues and its Potential” about 60 participants gathered from diverse backgrounds and beyond countries. Thank you so much for your participation and strong support to achieve this together.


Since 2012, Leave a Nest group has been hosting Hyper Interdisciplinary Conference, where people from academia, large corporations, ventures, super factories, educational institutions such as junior and senior high schools, local governments have gathered to create new knowledge and seeds of new innovations. The overseas expansion began in 2019 to Malaysia, Singapore, India and finally this time in the Philippines. 

Welcoming Ms. Aisa Mijeno, Founder and CEO or SALt Corp as a keynote speaker, and our key partner who has been bridge for us to initiate projects in the Philippines, we confirmed the meaning of interdisciplinary community and to tackling issues from island country Philippines.

In the morning Hyper Interdisciplinary pitch session, 15 speakers were on stage sharing research outcome, project ideas, business challenges which is from or could be applicable in the Philippines.


In the afternoon, we had 3 panel discussions about Agriculture, Education and Infrastructure which are key topics to create new knowledge related to Island Issues and its Potential. Detail story will be released in upcoming news.

Especially after Education panel session, Leave a Nest announced investment and partnership with Mindanao-based edu-tech startup Wela Online Corp. This partnership between these two education-focused organizations aims to increase the momentum in the delivery of frontier technologies in the Philippine education System. Press release is here

In the closing ceremony, we announced the result of Best Poster Presenter Award. Criteria for the award was, researchers who could  communicate well to share research ideas and for those who succeeded to make listeners think to collaborate together. Based on the voting from audiences on the day, it was surprised that two entrepreneurs from Philippines and Japan got the same votes to receive the Award, sharing pleasure moment and mission to continue research development harder. Congratulations to NanoLabs LRC Co., Ltd. and OUTSENSE, Inc. for wining!
