[20th Anniversary Project – 15] A New Employee Who Has Been Involved With Leave a Nest for 12 Years Since the Third Grade of Middle School Has Started the Serialization of “Understanding Leave a Nest Through Manga”

Leave a Nest Co., Ltd. (Founder & Group CEO Dr. Yukihiro Maru; Head Office: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo) has started the serialization of “Understanding Leave a Nest through Manga” to convey in a way everyone can understand the story of the founding of Leave a Nest, its vision and philosophy, as well as its activities. The author is Yuki Hamada, a new employee who has been engaged with Leave a Nest for 12 years, since the third grade of middle school, and joined the company last year. Ms. Hamada, who has experienced Leave a Nest as a middle school student, a high school student, a university student, a graduate student, and an employee, will unravel its traits from her unique perspective.

Yuki Hamada, who joined as a new employee of Leave a Nest in May just last year, first encountered Leave a Nest in 2010, when she participated as a student in a science workshop held by Leave a Nest at Sagami Women's University Junior & Senior High School, where she was enrolled at the time as a middle school student. After entering high school she continued participating in the science workshop; she  also started her own research on dandelion ecology and presented it at Science Castle, an academic conference for middle and high school students hosted by Leave a Nest. Before completing her undergraduate and graduate studies, Ms. Hamada participated in an internship program at Leave a Nest, where she practiced communicating the appeal of science to middle and high school students by planning and operating the science workshop. When Leave a Nest celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2022, she joined Leave a Nest with the mission of “increasing the number of children who find what they really love and dedicate themselves to it”. As part of efforts to communicate Leave a Nest in a way that children can easily understand, she began drawing “Understanding Leave a Nest through Manga”.

Leave a Nest will continue to offer science workshops, the business the Company has been operating since its inception, to increase the number of future colleagues who will work together with Leave a Nest on research. “Understanding Leave a Nest through Manga” will introduce various aspects of Leave a Nest, such as its origins, the concept of Science Bridge Communication, and some of the 200 projects that are in progress every year in order to introduce Leave a Nest to as many people as possible, especially the next generation.

As the first part of this series, we will introduce the first episode, “What Kind Of Company Is Leave a Nest?” and “Why Leave a Nest Was Created”.
