Leave a Nest Malaysia Sdn Bhd Visited Malaysia Technology Expo 2018 at PWTC

On 24 February 2018, Leave a Nest Malaysia members, Mr. Abdul Hakim Sahidi and Ms. Ida*rahayu Ayob visited the Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE), 17th International Expo on Inventions and Innovations at PWTC, Kuala Lumpur. Here we would like to share our experience and thoughts during the event.

The theme for this year’s MTE is “Asia’s Inventions and Innovations Marketplace”. The event serves as a platform for inventors, innovators and technopreneurs to establish their identity and promote innovative ideas that have the potential to change the world. This is in line with Leave a Nest’s vision “Advancing Science and Technology For Global Happiness”. MTE is organized by Malaysian Association of Research Scientists (MARS) and Protemp.

There are five concurrent segments during this 3-day event. It is definitely a great venue for inventors, designers and entrepreneurs to showcase their latest inventions, ideas, prototypes, products and designs to investors, manufacturers, distributors and marketers in Asia region and beyond who are seeking new ideas to work on. This event is an ideal platform for those who are looking for technological commercialization and collaboration opportunities.

The National STEM Movement

Leave a Nest Malaysia members focuses on the event under the National STEM Movement. This movement has created a new tsunami in Malaysia’s education system in the effort to promote greater interest and capacity building in science and mathematics amongst students through Mentor-Mentee Awards 2018. We could see parents filling up the hall to listen to the talk on National STEM Movement by Professor Dato’ Dr. Noraini Idris, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation) from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI). Lots of activities are being conducted for the students and we could see that the atmosphere and energy is still great although it was already the last day of the event.

Over 25 universities, 100 schools and 3000 students have benefited from this Mentor-Mentee Awards. Gombak Integrated Fully Residential School (SBPI Gombak) as winner of SCIENCE CASTLE in Singapore 2017 has set a good example as a school that has benefited from the National STEM Movement. SBPI Gombak has inked an MoU with University of Malaya (UM) to work together in the field of scientific research which will allow young researchers from the school to have access not only to UM lab facilities but also mentoring from research experts at the university. It is remarkable to see SBPI Gombak going from strength to strength, receiving such incredible encouragement and support from university.

Leave a Nest as a science-based company always thinking and planning on how to nurture young generation’s interest towards science education. We have a household program, SCIENCE CASTLE as a platform to gather young researchers from secondary schools and share about their research ideas. We have also conducted various kinds of original science workshop at schools and Science Festivals in order to stimulate the interest of primary school students toward science.

On 17 & 18 March 2018 , Leave a Nest Malaysia Sdn Bhd will be organizing SCIENCE CASTLE in MALAYSIA 2018 for the first time. It will be an exciting program where young scientists, researchers, innovators from secondary schools that will gather under one roof to exchange about their research ideas and innovations.
