Great Teacher Seminar 2020: Workshop 1 “Enhancing Teaching and Learning Science through Integrated STEM and Inquiry-Based Learning”
Leave a Nest Malaysia will be conducting Workshop 1: “Enhancing Teaching and Learning Science through Integrated STEM and Inquiry-Based Learning” during the Great Teacher Seminar on November 21st, 2020. The objectives of this workshop are to share integrated STEM education concepts and to share the experience and method to teach STEM education in class. The workshop will be delivered by Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Mohamad Sattar Rasul, Chairman of STEM Enculturation Centre from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
Rapid change and technology advancement requires a further understanding by teachers and parents on the need to embrace STEM education and get the future talent to be ready. This special workshop will enhance teachers’ and parents’ understanding of STEM education and the integrated approach with regards to technology related to IR4.0. It will also highlight inquiry-based learning as a tool to support STEM education. By joining this workshop, teachers and parents will be equipped with the knowledge and know-how to improve their teaching methods and make the learning process for the students more exciting.
Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Mohamad Sattar Rasul Chairman of STEM Enculturation Centre, Faculty of Education, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) Profile: Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Mohamad Sattar is an Associate Professor and Chairman of STEM Enculturation Center in the Faculty of Education, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. His academic journey began with a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering in 1987 and a Bachelor of Education with Honours in Technology and Education (Mechanical Engineering) in 1996 from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). Obtained a Masters and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Industrial Engineering & System from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in 2004 and 2010. He is a Board Member of the Asian Academic Society for Vocational Education and Training (AASVET). He is also the Editor of the Journal of Asian Academic Society for Vocational Education and Training (JAVET). He became Project Leader for a few research grant schemes such as the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS), Knowledge Transfer Program Grant, CLMV Grant (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam) Grant, University STEM Research Fund and MARA Research Grant, and ExxonMobil Grant for STEM. His research area includes TVET Policy and Curriculum, Quality Assurance, Qualification and Skills Certification System, Career Development, Engineering, and STEM Education. |
