Hello! Meet Izzaty, a space enthusiast, as a new member of Leave a Nest Malaysia.

Hello everyone, I am Wan Nur Izzaty, the new member of Leave A Nest Malaysia. I am pursuing my master's and Ph.D. at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, specializing in Space Physics. My research revolves around studying the equatorial electrojet current in the Ionosphere layer of the Earth. During my master's degree, I had the opportunity to meet my supervisor, who introduced me to space physics.

The importance of studying the ionosphere layer lies in the fact that it is home to our satellites, which are crucial for our daily lives, especially in communication and navigation systems. This underscores the significance of studying space.

However, the field of space is not limited to space physics alone; it encompasses various disciplines such as astrophysics, astronomy, space weather, and space technology. Being passionate about space education, I am delighted to further my studies in space physics. I have realized that Malaysia lacks expertise in this field, and I wish I had known about it sooner.

On the other hand, during my Ph.D. studies, I had the opportunity to share my experiences and knowledge about space with high school students under STEM programs in schools around Selangor. I had a chance to give talks about the solar system and space technology.

This STEM experience highlighted the lack of exposure to space education, which motivates me to contribute more to educating the younger generation. I firmly believe that space education is not merely about imparting facts about the universe; it is also about nurturing curiosity, fostering creativity, and inspiring the next generation of explorers.

By joining this team, I hope to organize various programs to promote space education. My goal is to not only spark interest among young students in the diverse career opportunities within the field but also empower the next generation to reach for the stars and explore the unknown. To quote the words of Neil Armstrong, “That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind.”
