Malaysia-Japan Technology Connect 2026 Brings Malaysian Innovators to Tokyo

Cross-border gathering invites Japanese companies, startups, investors and ecosystem leaders to explore practical partnerships with Malaysian ventures.
On 2 November, MRANTI will bring five Malaysian companies to Tokyo for the Tech Garage Seminar in Japan. Guided by the theme “Malaysia–Japan Technology Connect,” the gathering will connect the delegation with Japanese companies, startups, venture capital firms and ecosystem organisations. It also creates a platform to explore how cross-border relationships can support technology testing, validation, pilot deployment and market access under the Global Testbed & Sandbox Alliance (GTSA).
The seminar will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at LiSH (Takanawa Gateway Link Scholars’ Hub), a business creation and innovation hub at Takanawa Gateway. Through company introductions, technology sharing and facilitated networking, participants can explore potential partnerships, customer and industry connections, pilot projects, investment conversations and routes to expand into each other’s markets.
The Malaysian delegation brings experience across forest conservation, agriculture, medical technology, robotics and digital solutions. It includes companies that have participated in Leave a Nest’s TECH PLANTER Malaysia programme, alongside ventures bringing technologies and capabilities to connect with Japanese counterparts.
Meet the Malaysian companies
- Rich Tree Consultancy — A TECH PLANTER Malaysia 2026 participant working in ecotechnology and forest conservation.
- Ipinfra Networks — A TECH PLANTER Malaysia participant in 2024 and 2025, with an agritech focus.
- GreenSHeart — A medical technology company developing a heart-monitoring system.
- Braintree Technologies — An agritech company developing agricultural robotics and intelligent data platforms.
- Crave Asia Sdn Bhd — A Malaysian digital solutions company working across business and customer-facing technology.
Global Testbed & Sandbox Alliance
The Global Testbed & Sandbox Alliance (GTSA) is an MRANTI-facilitated initiative to grow cross-border collaboration through technology testbeds, regulatory cooperation, talent development and industry partnerships. It aims to help innovators connect with international partners and environments where technologies can be tested and validated, pilot deployments explored, and market opportunities developed. By linking innovators with testbed operators, regulators, companies and investors, GTSA seeks to help promising technologies progress towards wider adoption and cross-border commercialisation.
Malaysia–Japan Technology Connect gives this ambition a practical starting point. The seminar brings Malaysian ventures and Japanese stakeholders together to understand each other’s needs and identify where their capabilities may complement one another. For Malaysian companies, this may open discussions about Japanese customer needs, technical partners, suitable test environments, investment and routes to market. Japanese participants can learn about Malaysian solutions and explore collaboration with the companies and Malaysia’s innovation ecosystem.
The seminar does not assume that a partnership or testbed arrangement already exists. Instead, it creates space to identify potential areas for follow-up, such as joint validation, pilot opportunities, industry collaboration or market entry support. These conversations can help lay the groundwork for future Malaysia–Japan cooperation that advances GTSA’s cross-border objectives.
Invitation to Japanese partners
Japanese companies, startups, venture capital firms, accelerators, research and innovation organisations, and other ecosystem leaders are invited to join the seminar. Participants will be able to hear directly from the five Malaysian companies, share perspectives on the Japanese market and identify possible next steps for collaboration.
