Hi! I am a new nember of Leave a Nest Malaysia!
Hello everyone!
I am Mohd Khalid Khalil and I am a new member of Leave a Nest Malaysia. With a Master’s degree in Aquaculture majoring in fish nutrition and a Bachelor’s degree in Resource Biotechnology, I am a dedicated researcher at the intersection of sustainable resource management and environmental conservation. I have conducted research aimed at addressing two pressing issues: the rising costs of fish feed and environmental pollution in Sarawak. Specifically, the project explored the feasibility of utilizing agro-wastes such as sago solid waste and soybean solid waste as an alternative ingredient for fish feed. This innovative approach not only seeks to alleviate the economic burden on the aquaculture industry but also contributes to reducing environmental pollution by repurposing agricultural by-products. Through this work, I am committed to advancing both the sustainability of aquaculture practices and the broader environmental well-being of the region.
Building on this strong foundation in scientific research, I transitioned into the business world, gaining practical experience in supplying household cleaning products and food and beverages manufacturing. Through this new venture, I have developed an understanding of fundamental business principles and operations, further broadening their expertise. This blend of scientific knowledge and business acumen positions me as a versatile individual, adept at bridging the gap between research-driven solutions and practical business applications.
Before joining Leave a Nest, my goal is to create a social enterprise company to contribute to my community because after I graduated, I found it was hard to secure a job that aligned with my expertise, thus I decided to establish a company and went into SME. I believe that, if I can not get a job, then I create a job.
Joining Leave a Nest Malaysia in the Frontier Development team gives me the opportunity to share the experience I have in small business to startup on identifying challenges and helps them to connect with the big players in the industry to solve the problems or even better, a collaboration. In addition, using science and technology advancement to combat serious environmental issues especially in Malaysia. Moving towards the same vision as Leave a Nest, ‘Advancing Science and Technology for Global Happiness’.
