Leave a Nest Malaysia Successfully Hosts Eighth Hyper Interdisciplinary Conference (HIC) Malaysia 2025 at UNISEL


Shah Alam, 22 November 2025 — Leave a Nest Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. successfully organised the eighth Hyper Interdisciplinary Conference (HIC) Malaysia at the Pro-Chancellor Hall, Universiti Selangor (UNISEL), bringing together a diverse community of researchers, academicians, corporations, government agencies, and startups. The event once again demonstrated the power of interdisciplinary collaboration in advancing science, technology, and innovation across sectors.
Strong Partnerships and Regional Participation
HICMY 2025 received tremendous support from partners across academia and industry. UNISEL served as the Co-organiser, while PNH Malaysia joined as the Main Partner. Startups from Malaysia and Japan: TEASK, Naturenix, UntroD Capital Asia, Tenchijin, Innoqua Asia; contributed as Session Partners, while CAST, Industry Alpha, and Homura Industry supported the event as Supporting Partners. Strategic participation also came from leading educational institutions including Politeknik Nilai, and UiTM Puncak Alam as Strategic Partners, and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), and Universiti Malaya (UM) as the University Partner. The conference welcomed 205 attendees, creating a dynamic environment for discussion, networking, and knowledge exchange.

Opening Ceremony and Special Addresses
The event commenced with welcoming remarks by Prof. Norhayah Zulkifli, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Accountancy, UNISEL, followed by an MoU exchange between Leave a Nest Malaysia and UNISEL. Dr. Suzianti Iskandar Vijaya, Project Leader of HIC Malaysia 2025, delivered the official opening remarks and set the tone for the day.
The morning sessions featured two distinguished speakers:
Ts. Dr. Radin Zulhazmi, Deputy Undersecretary at MOSTI, who delivered a Special Lecture, and
Dr. Hooshmand Palany, Associate Director of ASEAN International Advocacy, who presented the Keynote Address.
Both speakers highlighted the importance of innovation-driven collaboration to build a sustainable, inclusive, and higher-quality future for all.
Panel Sessions: Advancing Quality of Life Through Interdisciplinary Innovation
Aligned with the conference theme, three panel sessions explored critical issues shaping Malaysia’s sustainable future:
Panel Session 1:
“Reimagining Energy for Life through Renewable Innovations for a Greener Planet”
This session examined emerging renewable energy technologies and the pivotal role of innovators and investors in accelerating Malaysia’s transition toward clean energy systems. This session was joined by naturenix Inc., TEASK, UntroD Capital Asia as panelists, moderated by 144 Ventures.
Panel Session 2:
“Green Transitions: Environmental Innovations for Quality Living”
Panelists discussed eco-innovation, low-carbon practices, and environmental technologies that support greener lifestyles and sustainable industrial development. This session was joined by PNH Malaysia, TNB Research, UiTM as panelists, moderated by Leave a Nest Malaysia.
Panel Session 3:
“Collaborative Strategies for Sustainable Water Resources: Insights from Technology, Research, and Academia” This session underscored the need for cross-sector cooperation to address water leakage, strengthen water infrastructure, and build long-term water resilience in Malaysia. This session was joined by Tenchijin Inc., NAHRIM, UNISEL as panelists
Together, these sessions reaffirmed the importance of interdisciplinary approaches to solving complex environmental challenges.
Innovation Showcases and MoU Exchanges
Additional highlights included the Mindstorm Pitch: Disaster Resilience, where innovators presented solutions for disaster preparedness, and the HIC Splash, a series of 3-minute rapid-fire pitches by young researchers and startups from various disciplines. The conference also witnessed several MoU signings, including: Leave a Nest Malaysia and UNISEL; Naturenix and TEASK; and PNH Malaysia and Haco Asia, which demonstrates the strengthened partnerships and new collaborations made possible through the HIC platform.
Poster Presentations, Booth Exhibitions, and HIC Splash
In the afternoon, the conference showcased 52 poster presentations from academic researchers and startups, and they were also able to showcase some of their products at the booth exhibition. Poster presentations and exhibition booths throughout the venue further encouraged lively interaction and collaboration. The event concluded with a poster awards ceremony and closing remarks by Mr. Abdul Hakim Sahidi, Managing Director of Leave a Nest Malaysia.
Continuing the Mission of Hyper Interdisciplinary Knowledge
HIC Malaysia continues to grow as a transformative platform that bridges academia, industry, government, and regional partners from Southeast Asia and Japan. It fosters meaningful dialogue, nurtures interdisciplinary collaboration, and supports innovations that enhance quality of life. Looking ahead, future editions of HIC aim to expand these efforts further, strengthening Malaysia’s research and innovation ecosystem and contributing to a world where science and technology drive sustainable happiness.
