Ki Ni Naru 2026 Opens Applications for the Lockheed Martin Explorer Scholarship

Following the opening of applications for the Ki Ni Naru Project 2026: The World You Can’t See, Leave a Nest Philippines is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the Lockheed Martin Explorer Scholarship.

The Ki Ni Naru Project is a research training program designed to develop high school students’ scientific thinking skills through curiosity-driven exploration. Inspired by the Japanese phrase “Ki Ni Naru,” which means “to be curious” or “to want to know,” the program encourages students to transform their questions into meaningful research experiences.

This year’s theme, “The World You Can’t See,” invites students to explore the hidden, unseen, and often overlooked parts of the world through science. Through the program, participants will undergo a kickoff workshop, online mentorship, educational activities, and final presentation opportunities that will help them strengthen their skills in observation, inquiry, investigation, and communication.

The Lockheed Martin Explorer Scholarship

The Lockheed Martin Explorer Scholarship aims to support young and curious student researchers who are eager to begin their research journey through the Ki Ni Naru Project 2026.

This year, five (5) selected teams will receive a full scholarship, covering the participation fee for one (1) team composed of up to five (5) students and one (1) teacher adviser. If you are passionate about science, innovation, and discovery, this is your opportunity to be one of the five scholarship teams. The scholarship provides students with access to a five-month research training experience, where they will develop scientific thinking, research skills, and curiosity through workshops, mentoring sessions, and student-led investigations.
