A member of our team lectured two times at Chuo University online, as an OG who is active in Singapore.
Ms. Maiko Miyashita, a member of Leave a Nest Singapore Pte. Ltd, spoke as an OG to the class of “Overseas Internship Course (in charge: Ms. Mika Matsumura),” a course offered by the Faculty of Economics, on Tuesday, June 18, 2024.
And “Lecture of Global Professional Program(in charge: Ms. Fumiko Kurihara),”a course offered by the Faculty of Commerce, on Thursday, June 28, 2024.
As one career model for women, she shared how she has developed her career after university graduation.
Ms. Miyashita has been living in Singapore for six years. It was interesting for university students to learn how she has spent her time until now working abroad.
Her message is that you are basically the creator of your own career and that 80% of life is not what you want it to be. How do you overcome this by yourself and create your own life?
In this context, she spoke of the importance of living with self-leadership. “Weapons are picked up while running”. Doing what is in front of you at that moment with all your might will become your weapon later.
Students also asked lively questions about working abroad specifically. By answering them with detailed answers, they seemed to have deepened their understanding of the topic.
Keeping a full-time job while parenting children is not easy. But it is worth it. So, whether you work overseas or in Japan, she encourages students to ride the waves of life and create their own career,” she concluded.
