Leave a Nest Malaysia and International Medical University Malaysia Establish Strategic Partnership to Advance Medical Technology and Healthcare Ecosystem

Kuala Lumpur, 30 January 2024 — In a landmark move, Leave a Nest Malaysia (LVNSMY) and International Medical University Malaysia (IMU) have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to forge a collaborative partnership with far-reaching objectives.

The partnership, grounded in mutual goals and shared vision, will focus on several key areas. LVNSMY and IMU will synergize their efforts in research and development activities, emphasising the translation of innovative ideas into commercialised solutions within the medical technology and healthcare sectors. Both institutions are also committed to nurturing talent and building expertise. This involves comprehensive training programs for staff and students, as well as fostering connections with industries to enrich skill sets.

LVNSMY and IMU aim to bridge the gap between scientific advancements and public understanding. Collaborative initiatives will enhance awareness and knowledge dissemination, fostering a deeper understanding of medical breakthroughs. The partnership will facilitate the organisation of scientific gatherings and training initiatives. By establishing platforms for collaboration, this initiative aims to promote knowledge exchange among professionals, researchers, and students. A pivotal component of the collaboration includes a representative from LVNSMY joining IMU's Industry Advisory Board. This ensures direct involvement in shaping industry-relevant strategies and initiatives.

Mr. Abdul Hakim Sahidi, the Managing Director of LVNSMY, is excited about the collaboration, highlighting that Leave a Nest Malaysia is thrilled to become the first Japanese corporate partner with IMU. Together, they aspire to make substantial contributions to research, education, talent development, and industry linkages in the medical sciences.

Professor Dr. Gerard George, IMU Group Managing Director, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating that the collaboration amplifies their collective impact on healthcare and entrepreneurship. By pooling resources and expertise, they aim to drive meaningful advancements in medical technology.

This collaborative venture between LVNSMY and IMU marks a significant step toward advancing healthcare solutions and nurturing talent in the medical entrepreneurship field. As the first milestone, both parties will co-organize their inaugural program named Women in STEM Empowerment (WiSE), scheduled on 28th May 2024, at IMU Bukit Jalil, in conjunction with the International Day of Action for Women’s Health 2024.
