Dr. Kihoko Tokue Spoke to group of young entrepreneurs at Nanyang Technological University
Dr. Kihoko Tokue, co-founder of Leave a Nest Malaysia and current managing director of Leave a Nest Singapore, delivered a presentation to entrepreneurship students at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) on September 14, 2024 from 3:00pm to 4:00pm.
In her talk titled “Leave a Nest Group, Career of Curiosity & Passion Driven to tackle deep issues with power of science and technology”, Dr. Tokue shared her journey from field scientist researcher to becoming an “entrepreneur” dedicated to advancing science and technology to make the world a better place. She discussed her experiences co-founding Leave a Nest Malaysia, that aims to bridge the gap between scientific research and society.
“It was a pleasure to share my story and insights with the bright minds at NTU,” said Dr. Tokue. “As someone who transitioned from academia to entrepreneurial venture business, I hope I inspired students to follow their passions and use their skills to make a positive impact.”
Dr. Tokue joined Leave a Nest in 2011 after a career in field biology research. In 2013, she co-founded Leave a Nest Malaysia and served as its director until 2019. Since 2016, she has been the managing director of Leave a Nest Singapore, which conducts science education programs, work with researchers and startups to bring their innovations to society.
The presentation was followed by an open discussion where students asked Dr. Tokue questions about running Leave a Nest as a business and her thoughts on how to drive innovation in Singapore. Aspiring entrepreneurs coming from various backgrounds attended the engaging session.
