2024 New Year Greetings : Co-Create Meaningful Collaboration from Malaysia
Greetings 2024,
As we embark on a fresh journey into the new year of 2024, representing Leave a Nest Malaysia, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to all our esteemed partners. It is through our collective efforts and shared vision that we have achieved significant milestones together.
Last year was particularly momentous for us as we celebrated the 10th anniversary of Leave a Nest Malaysia on 13th October 2023. This decade-long journey fills us with pride and gratitude, as it signifies the steadfast commitment and unwavering support of our partners towards nurturing innovation and promoting scientific advancement.
We also took significant steps to propel our organisation forward. We relocated to a new office and proudly launched the Center of Garage Malaysia, a vibrant hub for knowledge and technology manufacturing. This milestone not only reinforces our commitment to fostering creativity but also signifies our dedication to providing an enabling environment for innovative minds to thrive.
I am delighted to share that our team expanded to 15 founding local members, each contributing their unique expertise and passion towards our shared goals. Together, we have accomplished remarkable achievements that speak volumes about our organization's spirit and determination.
In terms of education development, we successfully launched the first Science Castle Asia, a platform that brought together over 350 passionate young researchers and teachers from seven countries including Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand and Japan. This collaborative effort aimed to ignite scientific curiosity and inspire the next generation of innovators.
Looking ahead, Leave a Nest Malaysia is preparing to become the ASEAN Headquarters of Leave a Nest Group. In line with our direction, we aspire to adopt the tagline “Co-create meaningful collaboration from Malaysia.” The world today faces numerous deep-rooted challenges, ranging from war and hunger to poverty and environmental degradation. We firmly believe that it is our collective responsibility to seek meaningful solutions that can address these global issues and create a happier world.
The 2024 plan includes several key initiatives and events. One of our first successful program this year was the Tech Venture Meetup Malaysia 2024, which brought together more than 350 participants from Startups, Corporations, Government agencies, Venture Capitals from Malaysia, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines. This event showcased the vibrant Deep Tech ecosystem in the region.
Moving forward, we have planned the Hyper-Interdisciplinary Conference in Malaysia with the theme of “Tech-Powered Transformation for Malaysia's Food Resilience.” This conference aims to address the challenges of food security and sustainable agriculture, not just in Malaysia but globally. Additionally, we will organise the Sustainable Food Camp 2024, a collaborative platform where we bring Food Tech Startups from all over the world to discuss and co-create future foods together.
Another crucial aspect of our 2024 plan is our commitment to empowering women in STEM through the “Women in STEM Empowerment (WISE) program.” This initiative aims to provide opportunities, resources, and support for women to thrive in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Last but not least, we aim to strengthen global talent development by promoting an entrepreneurial mindset through the Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Training Program. This program will equip individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to venture into the world of entrepreneurship, fostering innovation and economic growth of the nation. This program will also involve talents from Africa to be nurtured in Malaysia!
To achieve our group’s vision, “Advancing Science and Technology for Global Happiness”, and our Leave a Nest Malaysia’s mission of “Synergising Unique Diverse Cultures & Technologies to Solve Deep Issues in Malaysia and Beyond”, we are eager to expand our activities further and collaborate with like-minded partners who share our vision for a brighter future. We invite all our esteemed partners to engage in meaningful discussions and explore new avenues of collaboration.
